This is my second baby....first was born c-section after 56 hours of labor because he never really engaged in my pelvis....I have been doing EVERYTHING I possibly can to have a homebirth VBAC this time around (chiro since 24 weeks, very supportive midwife, hypnobabies, etc)...and at 36 weeks we discovered I have extra fluid....for the past 3 weeks he's been in every possible position every time we check him. I don't know what to do at this point, I feel so helpless...I just wish I could get him to go head down, stay head down and feel that "bowling ball between the legs feeling" that I only ever get to hear about.
I'm sick of freaking out every time I feel him do some kind of crazy move...part of me wants to go into labor and just get it over with...the other part of me is scared to death that if I go into labor and he's in the wrong position I'll be headed for a repeat c-section.
I know I need to relax and let it go...but it's just so hard when I've been working for so long to make this such a different experience than with my first son.
Re: Unstable lie at 39 weeks
Hugs! I am also working hard for a HBAC and one of several reasons my DS needed to be C/S was for his breech position. Keep doing what you can (it sounds like you are doing everything possible) and try not to lose hope. In the end you will know you tried everything under your control. I hope LO turns and stays vertex for you. I've heard of hypnobirthing instructors helping Moms encourage babies to turn vertex. Good luck and keep us updated. Fingers crossed for you and your HBAC!
don't under estimate the wisdom of your body & your baby. this may be a sign that there is truly something going on with the shape of your pelvis & a c-section is best for you.
thw world health organization says if resources in thrid world countries (where women labor for days & end up with no help & very sad outcomes) were matched with the frivolous c-sections done in places like the US & Brazil & it all balanced out that 10% of women would truly need a section.
maybe you are that 1 in 10? i'm not trying to be a debbie downer, but the body takes care of us sometimes in ways we might not like.

I had an unstable lie with my second also. I had the natural homebirth I desired to. I was like you and very very nervous. At 36 weeks, we were breech, at 37 weeks we were transverse and at 38 weeks we were oblique. I was told I could be induced and I was told of all the risks of cord prolapse.
I also had a very long (nearly 50 hours) of labor with my first. I have what is called a small pelvic opening. My first didn't drop until I was pushing. This all made me a nervous wreck. My midwives advised to do a lot of rebozo with my doula & dh and to not do a lot of driving and I also did a lot of sitting on my hands and knees.
I do not think having an unstable lie means you are not meant to give birth vaginally. In fact, I have two children that can prove that. During labor, I was dilated to a 6 after nearly 14 hours of active labor and the baby was head down but so high that my mw couldn't feel him. I did a number of exercises and had a chiropractor come to my house and adjust me. He was born still in his sac!
Good luck! If you have questions, feel free to PM me.
