Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Does anyone's LO have an egg allergy?

DS has very sensitive skin. So we are already used to using special detergents, soaps, etc. However, now that he is eating more table food and less baby food I have noticed his skin flares after eating eggs (more than it already is). If your LO has an egg allergy how did you determine this? Not sure if he can see an allergist, if his pediatrician can tell us, or what to do.

 Thank you for your help.

Re: Does anyone's LO have an egg allergy?

  • Are you giving him the whole egg? We just started giving the yolks, and so far so good. But the pedi mentioned if she was going to have any reaction it would be to the whites, not the yolks.

    Good luck with everything.

  • My son kept having really bad dry rashes all over his body and the doc kept saying it was eczema. It seemed to never get better so they gave him a blood test to check for allergies around 8 months. It came back that he was allergic to egg whites. We've cut that out of his diet (which is surprisingly a lot of things!) and his skin is doing much better.

This sounds very similar to our situation. We have just been giving him the whites and yolk. No one in our family has a history of allergies so I didn't think anything of it. Now it is time to do my research on egg whites it sounds like. Also time for a call to the pedi!
