Ok, so fundal measurements

I feel a little silly posting/asking about this. 

So at my appointment yesterday the doctor told me I was measuring at 38.5 & I'm about 40.5 (almost 41 now) weeks along. I didn't realize I had apparently been measuring behind because the other doctor had been doing my appointment (my reg doctor from yesterday had been out of town for 2 weeks) & hadn't been telling me my measurements. 

Now granted, I'm all belly. I was a little surprised but he said I was measuring good. Just was not expecting to not be measuring 40. It just really makes me wonder how big LO is. I always figured she wouldn't be bigger than 7 &1/2 or 8 lbs. But now I'm wondering if she's between 6 & 7. The doctor has never said anything about her size/weight & at the 21w a/s she was estimated at 1lb. 

Anyone measured or measuring behind & end up with a big baby, or bigger than expected?

    Fundal measurements are definitely not an exact science, and there are a lot of variabilities that can impact them (baby size/position, mom's height, etc.). I always measured a little "behind", but I'm tall. DS was 6 pounds, 4 ounces.

    I always measured right on target, then I dropped and started measuring at 38/39 when I was 40 weeks.

    At my last appt at almost 42wk I measured I think 38.5. Baby girl was 8lb3oz

    Right before my c-section the doctor felt around on my belly and said it felt like I was going to have a 6lb baby.  He was 8lbs 2oz so even she was shocked.  I wouldn't put too much faith in fundal measurements.  Sometimes they are accurate and sometimes not.
