Please help. So confused...

So, my DH and I recently decided that I am going to go down from full-time to part-time. Yay! But now I need to figure out child care since the place my kids go does not allow for part-time care. Please give me advice/suggestions for options! Are there places in the Brookhaven/Dunwoody/Chamblee that allow for part-time care (I.e., 2 to 3 days per week)? Is a part-time nanny the best option? Help! I am so confused and don't even know where to start, especially knowing that the reputable places likely have wait lists.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide!!

  • Weve done part time care since Sophie was born- it all depends on the center. We've had luck w/ Goddard & Primrose so I would start there. Also, if you can be more flexible on the hours- church preschools are a much cheaper part time option. Most only do 9-1 tho so that's why we haven't been able to make it work exclusively for us.

  • I know the school my children go to will allow you to do part time, but the discount from 5 days a week down to 3-4 days a week is really not that significant so you are still paying a LOT!  I would think that a part-time nanny would be your best bet or as mentioned, maybe a church program that has shorter hours would be cheaper?  Maybe you could find someone else who is already using a nanny and try to do some sort of nanny share?  Sorry I can't help with more specific options.  Good luck!

  • I do a spot share and I know sometimes places that do not traditionally do part time at willing to accommodate something like that.  When my son was young I worked part time and found a nanny for the hours I needed her was much cheaper than the full time daycare places.  Most of the places we were looking at then only did part time a day or two a week and I worked mornings.

  • I think a nanny might be cheaper. But I know that creme de la creme on Roswell offered part time care broken down by number of days per week desired.
