Do the items you buy have to be on your registry to get the discount?
They told us that yes, they do have to be on your registry and not only did they tell us that, but when I asked for a gun (because I was just going to add things to my registry as we shopped to complete it), they said it would not work if I scanned items right before purchasing with the completion coupon. That being said, I think they were FOS because they said the items would have had to be on it for "several cycles" and I had added things just a few days before from my house and they were discounted.
I'd recommend asking for a gun, scanning anything you put in your cart and seeing what happens. Do not even tell them that's what you are doing. Worst case scenario, it won't work. Add anything you know you want for sure from your computer sooner rather than later and use the gun for the last minute things you think, "Oh, yeah! I wanted that!"
Also, a TON of things we were registered for were discontinued (like bibs we'd picked, etc) and one of the employees told us it was OK to circle those items on our registry and pick out replacements. When we got to the register, the "supervisor" tried to give us a hard time about it, but fortunately, the employee had told us her name.
Yes, but if you buy something similar, and tell them, they will give you the discount. We did this when i picked up things like a case of wipes instead of the individual packs. Also, i added things to the registry online 1 hour before we went shopping and got the discount.

Honestly, if you added stuff one hour, then OP, I say do what we were going to do - take the gun around with you when you shop, add the things you put in your cart that are not on your registry, return the gun... and then check-out. It should take the discount off, then! Those people lied to my face LOL.

They did not lie online it's updated right away, in the store the server only up loads it at certain times. If you go the day before to add things it works. Also you can use the 20% off coupons with your cc if you use the 20% off first then the cc.

Well, they did lie to me... they told me that NOTHING I added would be a part of the completion coupon unless it was on my registry before I got my coupon. I also went in the store asking for a gun and shared the reason why when I picked up the completion coupon (but was not planning to use it) and they said the same thing. I think every BRU tells people different things, though, because my store gave me my completion coupon when I asked for it (I also had it mailed, which must have been an oversight, but I never tried to use it again)... whereas several other mothers tried asking for it in their BRUs and they were told they had to wait! My store gave me a paper coupon and wrote my registry # right on it - handed it to me out of a drawer lol.
Every store must be different. I added something to my registry and was able to go directly to the register and check out and use the completion coupon. The sales person did immediately update my registry as soon as I returned the gun.
