Had my last appt. today and since I haven't gone on my own yet my doctor scheduled me for induction on Tuesday/Wednesday. She said I'm a good candidate...Dilated 2cm, 70% effaced and baby is in -2 station.
She did a quick u/s to make sure the fluids were ok....turns out baby's head is right up against my pelvic bone....no wonder why my hip hurts so much! I am getting checked in on Tuesday night where they will give me this stuff to soften my cervix more....she said that alone might make me go into labor. I sure hope so because if not the next day they start the Pitocin.
I am realllllyyyyyyy hoping that he decides to come on his own before Tuesday! Either way this baby will be here by Wednesday.
I really wanted to go med free.....have any of you second time mom's that have been induced been able to do it med free or was it too painful because of the Pitocin?
Re: Induction scheduled *Sigh* and a question!
Hopefully both of our LO's decide to come before they have to do an induction!
I'm in the same situation as several of you... Due date/window is today or tomorrow and at my appointment yesterday my OB went ahead and scheduled a tentative induction for next Friday - one day before I hit my 41 weeks. My age presents an issue for most doctors (although I've had a totally healthy, issue-free pregnancy) because at 40, they worry about the placenta deteriorating once you get to about 41 weeks. I'll have an internal on Tuesday to see if I've progressed at all. I'm so bummed! I know we're not there yet, but I really want to avoid the induction, if possible. Having said that, I've read several (not a ton, but still) birth stories here about uncomplicated, non-medicated inductions that took place. Let's hope we fall into that camp!
Better yet, let's hope we all get to meet our LOs in the next few days!

I think the main reason she wanted to induce early is because of the fluid level...when she did the scan the baby's head and the placenta where in the way so her measurements for the fluid are just an estimate. She said it could be way off because of this.
After reading everyone's responses I'm starting to second guess if I should ask to wait until the following week. They told me I could postpone it if I wanted to so they really aren't forcing me....I think I'm just easily influenced at this point because I'm pretty miserable.....hip is constantly killing me and I hardly get any sleep anymore.
I'm just getting to the point where I am trying all the old wives tales now to get him to come out lol Last night I specifically went to a Mexican Restaurant and ordered the spiciest thing on the menu! Here's to hoping everyone's babies come on their own!
A few of the ladies on the FB group have used this tea to get their labors started naturally and avoid inductions... it hasn't worked for everyone, but heck, may be worth a try eh? Here's the recipe and instructions...
-3bags of the RRL tea - steeped for 15min in 3oz of water
-3oz of orange juice ( she used sunny d because that's what she had but any orange juice will work)
-2oz of gingerale
-1tablespoon castor oil.
You then shake it in a mixer and drink it while it's still fizzing. That's why I didn't know there was castor oil in it, the fizz masks the taste. Then follow it up with 3 20oz bottles of water. Apparently the gingerale/orange juice mix protects the stomach from the castor oil and then add the potent RRL and that helps the contractions you feel be efficient. I did not at any time get diarrhea or feel sick. And the bottled water will keep you from getting sick she said.
My doc. agreeed with your statement on the snowball effect it was why she did not want to induce me but I had no progress at 41 weeks and two days so she tried a natural induction. To be honest it was too painful and you can?t move around the way you can med free as long as the pit. is on. My doc tried the folly bulb hoping I could go med free but it only got me to three and after 8 hours of no progress had to turn the induction meds on. They tried cutting them back etc.. but everytime I stopped progressing.
