Vegas Trip at 12 weeks, ok right?

This is a weird question. I just wanted to get opinions.

When I was in the middle of IF and IVF, I had to keep living my life as normal and making plans as I usually would. I couldn't just put everything on hold while I was *hoping* I would get pregnant.

So, I booked a girls trip to Las Vegas. As it turns out, I am pregnant. I will be 12 weeks during our trip.

Can you think of any reason why it would be a problem for me to go? I'll ask my OB to be sure next week, but I can't think of any reason why I shouldn't. I feel great now at 9 weeks.

  • I haven't been to Vegas in years, but I remember it being really smokey in a lot of the casinos. During my first Tri I couldn't stand the smell of cigarette smoke. It made me feel really sick. (As an ex-smoker that's unusual for me, normally I kind of like it!).

Other than that and the no booze thing, as long as you're feeling up to it I say go, and enjoy! It'll be a long time before you get another trip like this!

You should be perfectly fine to travel at 12 weeks, but I would definitely ask your doctor about the smoke.  I love Vegas, but the smoke in the casinos is just gross.  There's really no way to avoid it short of not going into any casinos.  The only other thing that would concern me is the heat, but you can take the monorail or cabs instead of walking if it's ridiculously hot.

It's been a while since my last trip to Vegas. I don't remember the casinos being too smokey, but I was also a smoker back then - obviously I am not now.

We do plan to spend some time at the tables, but I also have time carved out for the pool and the spa at our resort. Mama needs a facial!

  • you should be fine, but it's going to suck cause you can't drink, and what's the point to go to vegas if you can't drink one of those cocktails in those ridiculously big cups.  :P

  • My OB banned travel from the beginning. She said having twins was enough of a high risk pregnancy to warrant keeping me in the local area.

  • I went to Spain from about 11-14W. So I see no problems with a domestic flight but definitely talk to your OB
  • I think you'll be fine, but do check with your dr first.  Also, stay hydrated and get up and walk often on the plane (which your bladder will probably make you do without any other reminders). I went to San Francisco at 14 weeks and did great.  The only things I didn't like were being restricted on how much sea food I could eat and the fact that I couldn't drink wine with our friends.

  • The first thing that comes to mind is the heat, but you can easily control that by staying mainly indoors. I still felt like shiit at 12 weeks, but if you're good to go have fun!

  • You should be fine...I traveled when I was 26 weeks pregnant.

This is just my opinion but the higher end hotels/resorts, don't seem too smokey to me...just gamble when it is less crowded.

  • Aw memories - I went to my sister's bachelorette party in vegas when I was 8 weeks w/ DD1 - it was fine. I ate hot dogs and steak the whole time, b/c I had aversions to everything! haha!

W/ my twin pregnancy, MFM said no traveling past 24 weeks - I had an uncomplicated di-di pregnancy

    Have fun!
