Exercise

Is there anybody out there that's still doing regular exercise this far along? DH and I got into an argument about it this morning... between being huge and exhausted all the time, plus my pulled groin that just won't go away, I really don't have the strength or the energy or the pain tolerance to walk regularly. I was complaining to him though about how closely he monitors my sugar intake (I'm hypoglycemic but I've been craving sweets lately and he won't let me have any because sometimes it makes me and LO sick), and he just started in on me about how I should be walking a mile a day. I know I'm a little self-pitying in the past few days, but I really don't think that's reasonable, this far along when I'm feeling so crappy.

Re: Exercise

  • Im still at it. I do light dumbells for arms and walk on the treadmill atleast a mile. My motive is to get this baby out.

  • I stopped a few weeks ago. My feet swell up so bad if I'm on them for too long and it's painful. I do a lot of cleaning around the house though, and that lately has gotten my heartrate up so I feel like I'm still getting in some kind of exercise

  • I just do walking, I was walking about an hour a day up until a week ago when my pelvic bone seperated and now I can only walk about ten minutes a day before it hurts too much but if it didn't seperate I'd still be out walking a lot, it's super relaxing :)

  • Uh, he should back the heck off IMO.  It isn't going to hurt anything to not exercise for a couple weeks.  If you felt up to it then sure, but if it is hurting then absolutely not.

I was on bed rest for several weeks and am in pain most of the time now and there is no way I would he able to properly exercise right now.  I do what I can and stay as active as possible but it isn't worth it.  I will get back to running and yoga post partum, and it'll take a while to get back to where I was but not the end of the world at all.

I am still doing a full work out. Up until 38 weeks I was working out 4 times a week doing step, cardio weights and squats...you name it I did it. I cut back this last week but really only because my classes were cancelled due to the holiday. What is funny is that I can't walk very far or I get a bad cramp but I can do everything else no problem.

  • Is he a doctor? Because, well, my husband wouldn't dare make such asshat comments to me.

  • I am still going to the gym.  My last gym day with DD was my due date plan to do the same this time.  Doc. told me to stop once I was past my EDD

  • I'm still walking pretty much daily for 20-30 minutes.  I also lift light weights occasionally still.  However, if you're in too much pain and discomfort you shouldn't push yourself!!

  • I'm still walking daily...its getting harder due to baby being so low but I do enjoy it.
  • I run a few times a day, but I have to be honest, the last two days I've run, I felt like I was hit by a train afterwords. I'm also slow. I struggle to go 5.5 miles an hour on the treadmill. Do what you can. It's hard!

  • I'm on my phone and it won't let me edit my last commen. I do not run a couple times a day, rather a couple times a week. I'd be a hurting unit if it were true.

  • I'm still walking nearly every day, generally for around 35-55 minutes, depending on how I feel.  DH and I walk in the evenings outside, and while I'm definitely by no means fast, I generally feel better after walking, so I've stuck with it.

  • Hm... well, if you guys are all keeping it up maybe I should give it another shot. I went for a 30 minute walk the other day and the walk itself wasn't too bad, but my leg was killing me all night. I didn't do much stretching before or afterwards, though, so perhaps if I stretched it out better it wouldn't be so bad.

  • I stopped exercising a few weeks ago due to pelvic pain. I am now down to just walking.

  • I have a lot of difficulty walking due to swelling, but if I get right up and do my prenatal yoga DVD, I find it a little easier. I haven't been faithful about it at all, but when I do it, I notice that my hips feel better. I'm definitely doing lots of modifications to make it through all the exercises, but I enjoy it when I do get to it. At this point, I think it is easier than walking b/c I don't have to deal with the heat.

Tell him to kiss your a$$.

Seriously, I know he has you and baby's best interest at heart, but if you don't feel like it- don't!  I was really hoping to stay active this whole pregnancy, but just have not been physically capable the past few weeks.

    Rest up and feel better!
