Annika Susanne is here! (and a word of encouragement)

My sweet baby girl was born on May 30 at 42w0d. The little stinker was scaring me, that was the last day we could have had our birth center birth. She was 8lb3oz (we think...today she measured on a different scale as 7lb2oz but she doesn't look or act like she's lost that much weight), 19.25" long, with a 14" head. Her birth was VERY intense and hard, but beautiful all the same.

As a word of encouragement to the mamas on here who are still waiting on their LOs and are disappointed in their progress, I went into labor at 6PM Tuesday. At 11AM that morning I was ZERO cm dilated. Nothing. My midwife even tried to push on my cervix to get it to open to get things going and it would. not. budge. At 8:28 the next morning I was holding my baby girl. So you really don't have to be dilated to go into labor! Our bodies are amazing!

    Congrats! You are so right about timing. My midwife said at my 40 week appointment that nothing was going on with my cervix and I went into labor just a couple of hours later. You just never know!

    First came love, then came marriage - Oct 31, 09
    Then came a miscarriage March '11
    Then came a baby in the baby carriage May 16, 12

    Congrats!  DD lost a lb a few days after birth, I think it's all the fluid/swelling going down!

    Congrats! And FWIW my DD was 7lbs 2oz at birth and three days later at home when the health nurse came she was 6 lbs 5 oz.
