Hi girls,
Our little girl Samantha Riley arrived on Memorial Day-Monday May 28th at 9:18pm. She is just a peanut at 5pds 14 ounces and 19 inches long. She looks almost identical to her big brother and her Daddy. We are so in love with her already.
I was scheduled to be induced due to GD on Wednesday May 30th. DS was 3 weeks early so I was hoping we cold avoid the induction at 39.5 weeks. We started doing alot of walking throughout the weekend in hopes of moving things along. Sunday I started losing pieces of my mucous plug and I had been having period like cramps for 2 weeks. So I knew my body had already started to do things itself.
I woke up in early labor on Monday morning. Cramps, some spotting, and DD hadn't moved much in the last 24-36 hours. The blood freaked me out so we headed to the hospital. I was only 2 cm and 70% effaced at that time(same as I had been all week). They did an ultrasound and the baby was fine. So they sent me home.
By noon the contractions were 10 minutes apart, and by 4:30 pm they were 5 minutes apart. Right around that time things got very painful and the contractions were very intense. Much different than my labor with DS. I made it through another hour and then couldn't take it anymore. We got back to the hospital around 6-6:30pm. I was that lady in labor that was screaming and moaning. Everyone could hear me. Labor and delivery was slow so they assigned 2 nurses to me to get me as comfortable as possible. I threw up as they were getting me signed in and they were afraid I was already in transition. By the time I got the epidural and they checked me, I was already 7-8 cm. Things went fast from there. We had no idea until DD was born that she was sunny side up. This explains why I was in so much pain. The doctor said it was a good thing that she was small, or there would have been a strong possibility of me having to have a c-section to get her out. Funny how things work out!
She is absolutely perfect. Labor was more difficult this time around, but unlike my DS, she took to nursing right away and has been a very sweet and angelic baby. I just fall more in love with her everyday.
We did find out that she has hip dysplasia in her left hip. So we will need to take her to the orthopedic doctor next week and she will probably have to wear a brace to correct it in the next few months. We just feel blessed that we know this is just something that can be corrected and she should never know the difference.
Good luck to all the mamas to be and the mamas that have had their June bugs!! I know this is a scary time in the pregnancy-the anticipation, waiting, etc. But it is so worth the wait in the end!!
