Any other kiddos afraid of elevators?

This is a recent development but DS freaks out when we go in elevators. We don't do it frequently, only at the mall usually, but he starts whimpering as soon as we roll up to where the elevators are and then cries when we're inside.

Anyone else? It makes me nervous that he has bad vibes because one of my fears is getting trapped in an elevator.

    DD doesn't like them either.

I think it's the crack in them (the floor part when you are entering) that scares her.

  • My LO is also terrified. If we step into one since she was about 10 months old she starts shaking and does this terrified whimpering cry.

We've started taking the stairs a lot more.

  • Ds loves them. At least now he calls buttons buttons. Last year, he shortened it to "butt" and would call out "I hit butt" whenever we were in a building with an elevator.

  • I'm afraid of elevators. I can control it and do go into them, so it's not that bad. But I get queasy from the moment I step up to one until I get off. Forget all glass elevators though. I'd jump over from the next rooftop and shimmy my way down before stepping foot in one of those.

I didn't really have a point, just commiserating with the LO's. Elevators are scary business;)

  • DD loves them, we live on the 40th floor...so yea, she has used them all of her life. I do have a difficult time preventing her from pushing every.single.button on the elevator lol. Have you tried singing his favorite song while you get on? lol
  • Mine is also afraid of them. He starts whimpering as we approach.  I found that if I talk alot to him and kinda play with him while we are in it, it distracts him enough to get to our floor.
