1. Your purse- No but I probably would have if our birth class instructor hadn't told us not to. I'm never without my purse. But in this case H will just carry my ID and insurance card; purse is staying home.
2. Your cell phone- I'm not sure about this one and am curious to other responses. I always have my cell phone on me but a nurse at my OB's office told me a patient's phone was stolen at the hospital so now I'm leaning toward not bringing it.
3. Your wedding rings (if you're still wearing them)- I will leave them home. I don't want to risk anything happening to them should they need to come off.
I'm here at the hospital now. Even though I had a c-section, there was only a very short period of time where there wasn't someone in my room. That was during the actual c-section when my parents went to the cafeteria to grab something to eat:
1. Your purse: Yep, it is here.
2. Your cell phone: Yep. I have an Iphone and have used it to Bump, post photos to Facebook, text message pictures, etc. I would feel naked without it!
3. Your wedding rings (if you're still wearing them): I haven't been able to wear my rings the majority of the pregnancy, so no.

I took my purse, and I ended up sending it home with my mom. I just kept my id and insurance card. I kept my rings on and kept my phone with me.

Feb 2010 - IUI #1 200mg Clomid = BFN. June 2010 - IUI #2 200mg Clomid = BFN. March 2011 - IUI #3 w/ injectables = BFN (1st & last with RE, moving on to IVF). July 2011 - consult for IVF. Sept 2011, 1st IVF. Got our BFP on 10/2/11. Became a mom on 5/5/12 to a beautiful baby boy!
1. No need. I'll give DH the DL and ins card. Nothing else in there is important.
2. Yes, but DH will hang onto it, obviously.
3. My engagement ring doesn't fit anymore, but my wedding band is thin and always a little large on me (eng. ring keeps it on) so I am just wearing that anymore. I think I'll keep it on. DH can put it on his pinkie if they won't let me wear it in the OR.
Yes to cellphone and wedding rings. We have free local calls at the hospital but there are a lot of numbers I don't remember that are just on speed dial. Plus, I can text my husband if need be instead of making a phone call. My rings still fit, somehow.
No purse - I'll take out my health card and DH will hold onto it for me. I'll have cash on hand for DH to bring for himself.
Cellphone - I really don't need to bring it. We aren't planning on calling anyone until after we're home from the hospital, but DH has all of our family contacts in his cell if anything unexpected happens and we decide to call family.
Wedding rings - I'll have to see how they're fitting. They still fit right now and go on and off with ease. If they're tight by my due date, I'll leave them home. If they're still comfortable, I'll wear them and DH can keep them on him if I have to take them off.
Yes to cell phone and rings (still wearing them), but no to purse. But that's only b/c my purse essentially only holds my wallet and cell phone (i'm not one of those women that carries their whole world in their purse with them), so I can easily toss those things in my hospital bag.
Wedding Rings: Mine no longer fit, DH won't be taking his either. Its too easy to get distracted and not pay attention to your valuables. DH lost his (second) wedding ring at the hospital with the birth of our son. The first he lost in Meagan's Bay St. Thomas on our HONEYMOON. So he won't be taking his either.:)

I'm surprised at how many people are leaving their purse at home! If I take out just my id and insurance card, I'm bound to lose them. My purse is my one-stop-shop and if I don't have a place to put those things I know I'd lose them for sure.

I'm putting my H in charge of my ID & insurance card. It's his job not to lose them.

I will leave my rings if I can remember to take them off.

2. Your cell phone- Yes and the charger!
3. Your wedding rings (if you're still wearing them) - Definitely no. No jewelery at all because they ask not to bring valuables.
No purse - I'll take out my health card and DH will hold onto it for me. I'll have cash on hand for DH to bring for himself.
