I wish I could say that I do, but I don't. ![]()
Someone asked my yesterday, "Is that his hungry cry?" and I realized I didn't really know.
I've tried so many times to distinguish between them, but they honestly sound exactly the same to me.
I can only tell when DS is super upset and when he's just fussing, but I think anyone can tell that.
It bums me out because I think this skill should be second nature by now. Am I the only one who can't tell the difference?
Re: Do you know your LO's different cries?

I can only tell the difference between a fuss and a "I really need something" cry. Then I have to figure out what that need something cry means, it usually means she is hungry...but not always.
Dont feel bad momma! I have no clue what each cry means I just know that if she is crying and hasnt eatten in a few hours...she is hungry. Or if she is crying and needs to be changed that is why. I have just figured her out, not the sound of her cries.
Just when I think I do, I get it wrong! Most of the time I can figure it out due to when he has eaten or slept. But then once in awhile we get a curve ball and it is not what we thought. He definitely has a fake cry --- no tears! So you're not alone!
I can't tell the difference between his "needs" crying (hungry, tired)
Here are the cries I do know:
I'm awake and done talking to myself in the crib.
I just woke up and need you to feed (only in the middle of the night)
I'm pissed and feeding me isn't going to do any good.
Don't feel bad if you don't "know" the cries like the books say.
