Decreased fetal movement at this point..anyone else

Is anyone else experiencing less movement at this point in the game (I cant do a question mark on this keyboard for some reason).

Ive noticed in the last week or less that she`s moving a bit less and I know things are getting cramped in there but wanted to see what the consensus was on the board.

If I really start to worry I`ll call the doc of course.

Re: Decreased fetal movement at this point..anyone else

  • From what I have read it is normal for fetal movement to decrease at this point because there isn't much room left and also it is conserving energy for its birth. As long as you are still feeling some movement, I would try not to be worried.

Talk to your doctor or midwife if you are still worried

  • Baby isn't moving as much or as strongly over the last couple of days, but if I eat a popsicle I can get him/her to pick up the pace. As long as I'm still feeling the movements some, I'm going to try not to worry.

  • I will notice that there are hours at a time that I don't feel him moving, but fortunately usually then he will start up right before I start getting worried and ready to call the doctor's office.  I'm also really only feeling him when I'm in a sitting position and not when I am even laying down or standing.  Movements are also a lot different.  I feel what I think is his butt shifting into different places, but I don't feel too many strong kicks or punches.  I would definitely ask your doctor though because in my opinion it is better safe than sorry.  I'm actually counting down to my doctor's appt on Thursday because I want to make sure what I'm experiencing is normal.

  • I kind of wish my big boy would tone it down a bit. He's more than 8lbs and still rolling and thumping around in there. Head butting my hip bone, pressing his heiney against my belly, and kicking my ribs.

  • Baby Girl has also toned it down a lot compared to a few weeks ago, but I still get movement throughout the day.  The movements are not as kung fu or frequent.  I talked to my doc about it at my 39 week appointment and he assured me it is normal.

  • I'm so glad you posted this, because I've noticed quite a decrease in the last few days.  I've been anxiously awaiting my NST tomorrow for reassurance.  With DS I had an anterior placenta, so little movement was the norm.  But up until a few days ago, this little one was raking her elbows and knees across my insides.  I have been getting some movement though...  Like I said I'm anxious for tomorrow and my RCS is Wednesday, which will be a relief for many reasons!

  • You should still be able to feel 10 movements in 60 mins. My baby moves a lot around 8 or 9 pm...so I dont really count, but I just know that everything is ok if I feel ton of movement then. Or ill eat something and it helps.

  • Decreased movement is normal - they have less space to move around. If you are concerned,  try drinking some juice and laying down for a few mins if you still don't feel movement I would call your OB.
