13 dpiui and BFN

Can't say I'm surprised, but still sucks! My beta is tmrw and I'll probably still go for shits and giggles..but called today to set up consult w/ my RE for IVF. I entertained just launching into another cycle right away, but i really do feel my body will respond better to the injects after a month off..

I want to find out what the difference in protocal would be starting out the cycle as an IUI versus starting it out as a straight up IVF from day 1. The financial benefits of starting out as an IUI cycle are so great, there would have to be very compelling argument to do the IVF day 1 plan, but I still want to have all my info.

I already have a long term plan figured out in my head, but for the sake of optimism it's going to stay there for now..

That sucks.  It's hard to stop thinking of long term plans vs. just staying in the current cycle.  I guess we just get too used to it.  :(

    Boooh!!!!!

I hope you get the answers you want at your RE appointment and starting as IUI works out (both financially and with a BFP).

Well, crap.  I had my fingers crossed for you.  I hope you get all the info you need and that you can enjoy a month off.  Hopefully the time off will give you a chance to relax and feel "normal" for a while.

That's interesting that you have the option to start as iui. My RE wouldn't covert me this month to IVF so I start next cycle. Can you explain how this works?

Thanks ladies, at least I know the 300mg of progesterone worked this cycle cause AF is no where in sight at this time when I would actually be happy to get it..

Well I'll know more after our consult, but after I told him I was totally OOP for IVF and therefore a bit reluctant, he offered starting the cycle as an IUI w/ Injects, because my med's, diagnostics ect are covered for that, and then converting to IVF if I'm lucky enough to get 5 or more follicles. They won't do IUI w/ more than 5 follicles anyway so I guess at the end of the day it saves a wasted cycle...My lining has always been very good during the IUI cycles so he figures that won't be an issue to convert quickly..

When I had my injects training class the RN told us they had just converted someone to IVF had a good response so I think they do it often.

We will ask about PGD testing and ICSI and all that other stuff, but still not sure what our feelings are on that..

BFNs are just craptastic. Especially after all that effort.

IF you do have to take a month off, I hope it gives you the rejuvenation you need to take on your next cycle by storm and get that elusive BFP.

    ((hugs))

I'm glad, too, that your RE is working with you to keep this financially as manageable as possible.

(((HUGS))) I'm so sorry. But exciting to hear that you are moving on to IVF. With a good plan in place it may be a good thing to take a month off and refresh your body and spirit. Then go out there and get your BFP!!

    Good luck next cycle.

That's great that they are starting you off as IUI but will convert with 5 or more follicles.  Will they change your dosage any to try to get more follicles or stick to the same protocol?

If you opt for PGD, you really need a lot of embies to do it since so many arrest before making it to day 5 to do the biopsy, it really is a numbers game.

Our consult is scheduled for next week! I won't go forward with it unless he agrees with uping our dose of Gonal, I don't see the point of moving forward with the same dosage since I never got more than 4 mature follicles on it.

I'm on the fence with the pgd because I have read sometimes it screens out normal embies as well, but won't make a decision until we talk to RE, so we'll see.
