Dad board?

Is anyone's DH, BF, FI or baby daddy into this?  My H looked at me like I was nuts when I suggested he sign up.

Re: Dad board?

  • My FI was excited and posted once, but works so often (and then picks up the slack on the housework after that) that he doesn't get to go on.  I'm hoping he'll be able to get on once a week.  He really wanted to have a group of guys to talk to

I'm not sure my DH would actually post in it, but last night when he couldn't sleep, he told me looked and read articles from dads on pregnancy, and cribs and strollers and stuff. He's annoyed at the lack of useful information geared towards dads. He said the things he's read basically say "She's going to be crazy. She's going to get fatter. You're going to have less sex. She's going to cry a lot." And things like that. How UNhelpful.... some men would like to know the why's behind the actions. /shakes head.

  • No kidding...my H said everything he's read teaches him NOTHING about the actual pregnancy, just stuff like "if she yells at you its hormones so just take it" "if she wants food, go to the store and get it" "nod your head and agree with whatever she says"

Yeah it'll make his life during pregnancy easier, but doesn't help him become very educated about his baby does it?

This is exactly what my H said. Any books geared toward men make women look like hormonal b!tches and tell them to just do whatever their wife says. He started reading two separate books and each were the same, basically made a joke out of having a pregnant wife and he HATES how they make men look like morons. He actually wants to know about the baby and what I'm going through but it appears nothing like that exists for men.

Regarding the reading material, my husband has What to Expect. He's been learning a lot from it--sounds like it's best to steer clear of the books marketed specifically for men.

  • My DH likes the WTE Facebook group for dads. It's men only unlike the WTE dad board which is full of women asking questions.
