In Judaism we have a few levels of mourning.

When a loved one passes away, we mourn for 7 days. It is an intensive time where we are visited constantly, don't work, don't use mirrors, cook, and many other restrictions apply. During that time visitors come to us with food and talk about the person who passed.

Once the 7 days are up many of the restrictions are removed, and some still do not.

At 30 days we reveal the tombstone, and it's the only day for the remainder of the year that we would be allowed to return to the cemetery. On the 30th day many more restrictions are lifted.

Tomorrow will be the 30th for both my grandma's passing, as well as my most recent loss.

I'm sorry for your grandma's passing as well as your own loss. I hope reaching the 30 day period gives you some peace and helps you move forward while still remembering them both.

I was talking with DH last week about how we don't have a lot of rituals involved when someone miscarries in our society and I think that makes it hard to mourn. Thanks for sharing what your faith does to mark the passing of a loved one, including a miscarriage!
