Okay-- I did a BAD thing tonight! I know there will be those that cluck their tongues and shake their fingers at me, but.....I ate sushi.
I did order three rolls---two were cooked, but one was raw. I know I shouldn't have done it, but I had such a craving. I ordered one salmon and avocado roll. And it was SOOOO good.
I won't have it again...at least I say that now! : )
Re: I did a "bad thing"....
I get sushi prob 1x a week right now. I usually get a shrimp (cooked) roll and a raw salmon roll. I have been getting it at my grocery store for 2 years and it has always been super fresh (make it every day at lunch and at dinner time). If it smells bad, I don't eat it but honestly, it's always been fantastic.
If you've been eating sushi for a while and have a reputable place, it's not likely you are going to get sick. Japanese women eat sushi for their entire pregnancies.
LOL, my husband is also super protective and paranoid! I have been dying for sushi (just California rolls/eel cucumber rolls) and he just looks very nervous and asks me not to...
Thanks for making me feel better everyone. It WAS good and I DID enjoy it! Let's see how long I can hold off before indulging again! : )
Probably because American women sue the pants off of anyone at any time... you sold me sushi when I was pregnant! That was reckless endangerment, you owe me millions!!!
Our society is so screwed up.
But yeah
I still do the occasional salmon roll from my fav. place too
jg this is so funny because two days ago I finally gave into my craving and ordered 3 rolls - all were cooked but I waited 27 weeks to have Sushi!!
This entire pregnancy I have not had one craving... with the exception of Sushi!! (of course right? ) Well let me tell you this was THE BEST sushi I ever had and am planning on eating it again!! The place I get from is reputable and I never had an issue with freshness. I may even go for a Salmon roll next time who knows! They say to only eat Wild Salmon not farm raised...
Now I know what it feels to have a craving and actually fulfill it! Yeah!!

Like it's been said, there's nothing wrong with eating sushi while pregger :P
If there was something wrong with it, I guess all Asian babies would have issues, right?
