1st preg resulted in MMC & 2 D&C's :*(

I am so sad after finding out my angels heart stopped beating at 9wks 3days...while i was thinking i should have been 10wks 5days. after finding out this heart breaking news we decided to go ahead and have a d&c....(this was last wednesday) on monday memorial day i was getting pains that were indescribable...painful! wound up in the ER on tuesday after numerous tests, proding and poking...and morphine they discovered i had several large clots from the 1st d&c that were basically pooling up inside of me and i never really bled enough. my obgyn did an emergency d&c AGAIN and assured me and my family that i would be ok. dealing with the emotional pain of a loss is hard..but now having to deal with the pain of a 2nd d&c in less than a week...i feel like my insides were beat with a bat!!! the soreness and cramping is horrible. have any of you undergne two d&c for the same mc? my dr said that in all his yrs of medicine he has only had to do that a couple of times....lucky me!

any advice and insight would be most appreciated...i dont know where else to turn and who to ask. ty

I am so so sorry your are going through this. A loss is hard but all the complications make it harder. I did not have to have 2 D&C's following my mc so I can not help with that. I just want to let you know I am sorry for all your pain both physically and emtionally. I hope you heal fast and are able to move forward soon.

I am so sorry for your loss, I have no experience with a D&C. I hope you can find comfort and support here and I know there are plenty of ladies who can try to relate to you. For now all I can do is offer my support and many many hugs. I am so sorry you had to go through all of that.

I'm so very sorry for your loss and that you've had to go through this. Your experience sounds like it was very similar to mine: first pregnancy, mmc discovered when I should have been almost 11 weeks. I needed two D&Cs for retained tissue that was discovered three weeks after the first D&C. I remember very clearly the terrible cramping and soreness. I've never experienced as much physical pain as I did recovering from the second procedure: when I first woke up after the surgery, I was crying so hard I could barely even ask for pain meds. The good news: it does get better, but slowly.

After doing some research and hearing from my doctor, it sounds like the meds they gave me with the first D&C may have been part of the problem. They had given me pitocin and another drug and my doc said something about how that may have caused my cervix to close to quickly, trapping some the tissue inside. I'm not 100% sure, but that's my best guess. Unfortunately, there's not a ton of information out there on the subject.

I wish I had better advice, but you have to rest. The more you push yourself, the longer it will take your body to heal so lay on the couch, put your feet up and take it easy. For me, the more I walked around and tried to do things, the worse the cramps got. Emotionally, I was a wreak for awhile and, to be honest, still kind of am. Sorry for your loss. My second m/c required two d&c's. I only had spotting after my original d&c. It faded off after a couple days, then I passed a couple clots (quarter sized) a week to the day after my d&c, my h and I went out to dinner and when I stood up to leave, I felt a gush. We were close to home so when I got out of the car to run to the bathroom I had another gush. It was the largest, grossest thing I'd ever seen. I was bawling. Called on call OB who sent me to the triage at the hospital. Also delivery area (cruel joke, really) they just took bloodwork and sent me home, saying they think it all passed. 4 days later I was still passing small clots. OB did another u/s and saw retained product. Two weeks to the day, I had a follow up d&c. It was hell. I'm so so sorry you had to go through this. You are not alone, hon. Hang in there, time does heal believe it or not

Thank you so much for all you lovely ladies...your inspiring healing words and comforting thoughts and experiences. i am so glad i posted this here and am amazed at the fast and overwheming responses. none of my friends or family members have ever experienced this and i didnt know what to expect. its going to be a long journey for all of us ttc...but the support here is just what i need. thanks again...i just cant wait to be healed. for now i feel like the road i a long and painful one...cant wait to actually be able to ttc...that seems like months away

Im so sorry that you are having to deal with this added pain on top of the heartbreak. I only had to have one D&C with my MMC and its unbelievably unfair that you had to go thru the procedure a 2nd time. I hope that your recovery is fast and that your stay here on this board is short.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

No one should have to go through a miscarriage, but I think it's really awful when it's your first. I don't have personal experience with a D&C, but I have read about other ladies on here needing 2 or 3 to get everything cleaned out. I hope things turn around for you soon.

My most recent miscarriage was a missed miscarriage. I had to have a D and C as well. I did not have to have a second one so I am sorry I can't help with that. I am so sorry for your loss and that you have to be a part of this board. I hope the physical part is over soon so that you can work on emotionally healing.

I am soo sorry for your loss. I had a long and drawn out mmc that involved 3 rounds of cytotec, 2 ER visits, almost bleeding to death, manual removal of tissue with forceps and finally a D&C. I know how it feels to think that its just never going to end. It just makes me sad that some people not only loose there baby but have to be dragged through excruciating pain and mult. procedures. Its just not far,and I am sorry that it happened to you. ((HUGS))

im super grateful for all your responses. HUGS to you all. im a little concerned again as im not bleeding...thats what led me to my 2nd d&c!! i just called my dr. to ask if this is ok??? wtg for them to call me is driving me bonkers!!!! i really just want this whole physical pain of the mc and healing to be overwith...these things happen for a reason i guess...right? god wants to makes us stronger women.... trying to be positive and have faith.
