C-sections

Anterior Placenta + C-section = Complications?

It just occured to me that a c-section may be more difficult with an anterior placenta.  My last c-section everything was fine but this pregnancy I do have an anterior placenta and don't really feel as much movement as it is.  Just wondering if anyone had an anterior and a c/s and if there was any difficulty because of it?

Re: Anterior Placenta + C-section = Complications?

  • I have an anterior placenta, my OB didn't mention any possible complication due to it. But, I didn't ask either. I googled it (for shame) and didn't find any info on possible complications. Maybe someone else knows more. :)

  • I had an anterior placenta with DS and had no issues with my c-sec.  My OB never mentioned that it could present any issues.

  • I had an anterior placenta with DS, and there were no complications with the c/s.  As far as I know, unless you have a very low-lying anterior placenta, there shouldn't be any increased risk during a c/s.  Your OB would be the best person to ask, though.

  • I've had 3 anterior placentas and 3 c-sections. No real issues, but my OB was aware of the anterior placenta.

I have an anterior placenta this time too. Shouldn't be an issue for my 4th c-section.

  • Anterior placenta and no complications.  I did ask before the surgery and the Dr. wasn't concerned.
  • I had an anterior placenta with DD and had no complications due to it.
  • Ditto the others - no big deal.

  • I had an anterior placenta and a c-section with my first and didn't have any issues.  My Dr. also never mentioned any risk of complications!
  • I had an anterior placenta and my c-section went fine. I was so paranoid that the doctor would cut through the placenta I asked her to do an ultrasound before we went to the operating room to check the location of the placenta. She did one and saw that it was way high up on my uterus so I was much more relaxed after that.
