When did you/will you transition to the crib? How did you do it?
I was planning to transition around 3-4 months but now that it is here, I dont want to do it. I love waking up and seeing her little face next to my bed. I am also worried about the switch from RNP to crib. Her room is just across the hall but seems so far away!
Did you slowly lead up to it, starting with just naps or did you do it cold turkey?
Re: when did/will you transition to the crib in own room?
This almost exactly. I had intended on waiting longer, but my son's grunting was so loud that I could not sleep with him in our room anymore. I feel like he's such a little man by sleeping in his own room, and I still get to watch him on the video monitor.
Probably around 6-7 months. But we have an overseas move to factor in. I am not goingto try and transition her with that kind of change looming or immediately after we get there. So - in reality - probably at 6 months at the earliest.
My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy. Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.
This is us too! By 8 weeks, I couldn't take all the "night noises" DS was making ... the grunting, squealing, sighing, etc. so we just moved him to his crib cold turkey. We did do playtime in the crib for a few days beforehand so he was familiar with his crib and room. He transitioned very well! Like PPs though, I strained my ears to hear every little sound on the monitor for a while ... now, the monitor is across the room so I only hear the "loud" sounds.

I want to do soon, but we haven't eliminated the 3am feedings yet. Hopefully the Dr will tell us okay at the 4 month check up.
We have her taking all her catnaps (groan) in the crib now so I expect the switch to overnight will be harder on Mom & Dad then on her.
We will probably do a test run this weekend because DH & I have a black tie event to attend Sat that will keep us out past her bedtime. It will be easier for us to get ready for bed without waking her if she's next door....
5 weeks - DH worked over nights and i was totally delirious from lack of sleep. so, i let her nap in her crib in her room (across from ours), at the end of 4 weeks. by 5 weeks, sleeping nights in the crib. it was really nice, i would just wake up and feed her in the chair and put her back to bed. when i went back to work that next week, i was already sleeping much better. it made me feel a little better because we have these super cozy soft crib sheets, i can't remember what they're called, but - she loves them and that makes me feel better.
you can do it!

We moved last week at 3 1/2 months. He sleeps like a champ for the most part. I think we were keeping him up more than he was keeping him up. So I moved him cold turkey to his crib in his own room. Easy peasy!
We still do naps in the pack and play, though, since his nap times don't coincide with our little girl's naps. I prefer him to be in sight while she's awake. And her playing doesn't seem to disrupt his naps at all.
