February 2012 Moms

So...

Just when I thought I had figured out my LO and was feeling so much more confident in my mom abilities... he's gone and flipped the script. He's had more major meltdowns and screaming fits than he has his entire 4 months so far. I am 95% sure he's teething which I think has something to do with it. And his eating has gone erratic... sometimes 2 hours, sometimes 3 hours, usually around 6 oz. It's setting me back to those first 4 weeks where I felt so unprepared. Is anyone else going through this? Please tell me I'm not alone!

Re: So...

  • I am so sorry! I am not going through it yet, but I feel like I am well on my way. At least I know what to look out for and that I will not be alone. Good luck!! :/

I feel like my DD (at almost 3 yo) is still this way!  As soon as I find something that works and get used to a certain pattern, she changes it all up.  They like to keep us hopping!  :)

Around 4 mths is a really common time for issues with sleep and eating because there is a ton of developmental stuff going on.  Google 4 month wakeful and you'll see lots of info about it.

My LO is all out of whack because he's teething. I'm hoping he mellows out soon because he's stressing Momma out.

Yeah I've also been wondering if it's the 4 month wakeful stuff. lol He's got so much going on I can't tell what's causing what... teething, 4 months, and super stuffy

  • Amen! Eli is FINALLY getting back into a schedule after weeks of fussiness, irritability and erratic sleeping patterns. It was worse than when he was a newborn.

  • indeed, we are here too! i felt horrible as i put her down for a nap after a 20 minute stint of "please, baby, calm down!".

we fudged up her sleep routine this week and i know that has something to do with it, but she's acting waaaay fussier than usual. stomach rumbles, drooling, fighting during feedings, mega short naps... i don't know, but we're loving her through it all.

  • I'm right there with you. Every time I think I've got a handle on things, something new crops up. I guess this is how life goes now?

  • Phew well at least I'm not alone. I think most of my anxiety is coming from the fact that next week I'm taking LO on his first plane trip... and it's going to be a 5 hour flight.... and I have to do it alone. So all this unexpected and unpredictable fussiness has me in a panic for that plane trip... cuz this boy has some lungs and if he looses it on the plane it's going to be rough for everyone on there!
