Georgia Babies

Now you got me thinking about strollers.....

I am love the idea of the snap and go.  I know I want a jogger though.  I had been looking at a jogger travel system.  You think I would be better just doing the snap and go and getting a jogger for when baby is bigger?

Re: Now you got me thinking about strollers.....

  • I would get a snap n' go, BOB jogger with infant seat adapter and then you will need an umbrella stroller for places like the airport, mall, in and out of the car, etc...

I LOVE my BOB and C will still sit in it. We also still used it last year at Disney and that thing was fabulous. I debated getting a double but I don't think we will need it.

    Happy registering/shopping :-)

  • I had a snap n go and the Bob with the infant seat adapter. Best of both worlds.

I'd definitely start with a Snap n go and use it for a while to get a sense of your stroller needs?  Do you plan to jog with your stroller or just want something for walks and the zoo?  If it's the latter, maybe something like a city Mini would do (I didn't get mine until the girls were over 2 and wish I had it earlier!).  Definitely try out potential strollers--New Baby Products has a great selection and they are really helpful.  In terms of big box stores, Buy Buy Baby had a good selection too.

  • I plan to run with it. I can't wait to get back to running and will start again the minute I am cleared.

  • We used a snap and go and the baby jogger city mini--it's great b/c it folds up so easily so that you don't then need an umbrella stroller.  We bought it at A Room of Their Own--they were helpful and let me bring the strollers out to my car to see how they fit in the trunk.

Set your sights on a BOB then. I've only heard people that rave about them.

I'm definitely not a runner, but I think that you're not supposed to run with a baby until they are a certain age.  Maybe someone else can remember what the age is.

  • If I had to do it again...I would have picked up a Snap N Go, and  a BOB.

Pick up a carrier that will fit the BOB my Chico Cortina was not compatible so we had to "rig" it a lil.

  • Another vote for BOB with carseat adapter.  We actually never used a snap n go (gasp!) because I either carry the baby in a sling or throw the carseat in the BOB if I want a stroller.  If I stayed at home with the kids and was out running errands and doing lots of things with kids in tow during the week I can see how the snap n go might have been more useful.

  • I did not use a snap and go either.  I just used my BOB with the Carseat adapter.  When Adam got older I hated the umbrella strollers so I bought a city mini that I loved.  I sold it when I had 2 kids and now I really wish I had it back.  It was my favorite non jogging stroller

  • We have a snap n go, Maclaren, and BOB. Loved them all for different reasons. Once the girls outgrew their infant carrier and we couldn't use the snap n go anymore, the Maclaren was perfect for indoor places like the mall or Target etc. The BOB was perfect for outdoors. Not that you couldn't use either one in either place, but to me the BOB was better suited outside than the Mac and the Mac was less bulky and took less room in the car if you were shopping etc.

  • you will cry when you have to put up your snap n go.  best stroller ever invented.  other than that I hate all other strollers.
  • I swore I wouldn't be THAT mom who had half a dozen strollers... but I quickly learned that all strollers are not created equal and different strollers work best for different stages.  At this point, we've had probably 8-10 strollers total.  Thankfully, most of them came from Craigslist and went right back on CL when we were done.  Anyway, here's my experience and the order in which I would purchase if I were you...

    1.  Snap n go is a must for the early stages.  Didn't have it for Gavin and I liked my travel system fine.  But with Sophie, I used the SNG all the time for quick shopping trips, restaurants or whatever.  Places where I would have felt silly bringing in a whole travel system.  Like restaurants- I could pull it right up to the table and not have to worry about them having a sling or turning a highchair upside down (NOT safe!).  It was so handy, I really wondered how I dealt with not having it the first time.

    2.  If you're going to jog, you need a BOB.  But personally, I think those are too big to be your primary stroller while you're out and about in a crowded place.  So you'll need something a little more agile for shopping, festivals, zoo, disney, etc.

    3.  I agree about the city mini being all that we need- we don't need an umbrella at all.  That thing is very light and folds up flat.  Best stroller I've found so far.  Both kids love it and we have no complaints at all.  Wish I had spent the money and bought a mini to begin with for Gavin and then we probably wouldn't have needed the other 7 strollers we've used!  They do have a carseat adaptor but honestly, I just know I wouldn't have used it as much as the snap n go.  I would have felt silly bringing in a whole stroller + carseat to a restaurant but the SNG was perfect for that.

As for registering, I say put them all on the registry and see what you get :-)  If you don't get any, then start off with a SNG from CL and buy yourself a BOB.  If you find that you still need something else after that, go for the City Mini or something similarly lightweight and easy to maneuver.

I have a single BOB (Ironman) for running.  The front wheel is bigger and the shocks are better than the Revolution, but the wheel doesn't swivel.  that was fine for me, b/c I only used it for running.  If you take it to the zoo or something with tight spaces, it is a PITA, because you have to lean it back and move it.  I started running with Colin in the BOB when he was 2 weeks old and ran a 5k race with him when he was 5 weeks.   My carseat didn't fit with the adaptor, and since he was a big baby, I just used a snuzzler and swaddling blankets for support and laid all the way back.

Learn from my mistake and don't run that early! I had problems healing properly and had to do outpatient surgery when he was 5 months b/c I started back so soon.

I have a double BOB revoluation and it was great for both kids.  I never ran with the double b/c it was too heavy but the swivel wheel made it much more manueverable.

The SNG is great.  I did use my travel system a good bit with C.  I liked it for the mall b/c I could completely cover him with the shade and it had a good sized basket.

  • I have never used a snap-n-go but neither of my boys stayed in the infant seat longer then 12wks (bailey was only in it for 8wks). With just Bailey, we used the single BOB revolution for everything - indoors, outdoors it didn't matter we used it. I loved that stroller. It had the best sun shade, was easy to steer no matter where we were, it was comfortable to push for dh who is tall and for me who is short, and I liked the cup holder. The new ones have an infant seat adpater for chicco too.

Everyone has such different opinions on strollers just like with a lot of baby stuff. You really have to figure out what you will use it for and how your family activity level is whether it be mostly indoor or outdoor etc.

  • Get them both :) I have the snap and go, single BOB, Maclaren, two double strollers and a regular baby travel system. Yes, I'm a crazy stroller hoarder but they all come in good use for different occasions.

  • I used the snap n go at first - Bob would have been way too heavy too manage on my own after my stupid C/S. Then after DH accidentally took the snap n go to Good Will (grrrr) I used - and still use - our city mini and Bob. Love both of those. City Mini for the mall, Bob for walks and runs.
  • We have the Uppababy Vista and absolutely love it.  I have used it every day since DS was born last June.  It comes with a bassinet so it was nice during the early months.  I can also have DS face me in the stroller to this day, which is convenient when he is snacking on something or when he is napping.  It is heavy to put in/out of the trunk but I've managed fine so far.  It is the only stroller we own, just wanted to throw it out there.

FWIW, you aren't supposed to run with the baby in the stroller until they get decent head control, ~6mos give or take.
