Parenting after a Loss

I don't think DS will ever STTN

I have just accepted it. He is almost 7 months old. And not once has he STTNI. At around 3 months he would sleep from 9:00 to 2:00 or 3:00 and then be up every hour to two after that. But since four months, He never gives me a long stretch anymore. He is up three to four times most nights. I was hoping that starting solids would help, but nope. For those of you with bad sleepers, when did STTN finally happen. I would be thrilled with just one night time feeding. The only way I can get him back to sleep is nursing. If DH tries a bottle during the night he gets so mad he wakes himself up to the point it takes forever to get him back to sleep. And I don't think Ferber is for me.

Re: I don't think DS will ever STTN

  • ((Hugs)) Sleep is hard.

DS slept decently well until 4m then it was he1l. At 6m, it got better and we were up only once for a feeding and sometimes a few times for his pacifier. At 7m, he dropped his feeding on his own and we haven't looked back since.

I didn't do any sleep training, but I did read Ferber. I used to say that I could never do Ferber but once I read it (and I was at the end of rope with lack of sleep), I was prepared to do it. Have you read the book? It might be worth looking into. If you are really opposed to that route, I hear the No Cry Sleep Solution gets recommended a lot.

11m and even now we have bad nights.

Same here. It's not uncommon for us to be up for the day at 4:30 or 5:00am.

  • I'm sorry, that sucks.  With DS he was around a year when he consistently slept through the night.  DD isn't even close yet, but I am hoping she gets there before a year.  Maybe I should just hope she does it even at a year?  Boo.

  • Still hasn't. I'll let you know when it does.

I did a modified sleep training at 12 months b/c I was about to die from exhaustion. I'm very glad I did it and wished I did it sooner. Not exactly CIO. more like CIO lite.
