Is it safe to walk to Genos/Pats from South St?  My friend and I are staying near City Hall and last time we walked to South St and back and that was totally safe but just wanted to make sure the area south is also safe to walk during the afternoon. Thanks.

    I think it is safe for an afternoon stroll...we would take a cab if it was late.....as in 3 am after we left the bars:)  I lived in Philly suburbs for 30 years.

    Reasonably safe even into the early evening. My grad school aged niece lived not far from there until very recently. If you're headed from South Street, you can take Passyunk Ave (say Pah- Shunk) which runs diagonally from South (near 5th Street) right to Pat's at 9th Street.

    Passyunk is enjoying something of a rebirth and is lined with fun quriky shops and places to eat. It's much like South Street was years ago.
