I'm dying over here!

The summer cold has ravaged our house and I feel like sh!t.  My head is congested and I've had a huge headache for 3 days.  My nose is stuffed up and I'm breathing through my mouth, which makes my makes my throat dry and burning.  I don't think there is anything I can take for this and I haven't found anything online.

Am I missing something or do I have to wait it out?  This sucks having this and being pregnant with a 2 year old!

    I've had this for about a week now. My only saving grace has been my humidifier.  My dr's office says I can take tylenol cold, regular mucinex, and a few others, but I haven't taken anything yet.  Just tylenol for headaches.

    Check with your doctor but I had a cold a few weeks ago and my doctor said that regular Benadryl was perfectly safe.  It doesn't make the symptoms go away, but it did relieve them a bit so I wasn't so miserable.  Feel better!

    Sudafed!  That was the one I couldn't think of!

    I'm actually going to my primary care today...I've had a horrible cold since Sunday and have taken everythign on my list of "oks" that I could.  Last night I started feeling a little better, but today I woke up and felt like I took 10 steps backwards.  My chest is very tight, I can't breathe in without coughing, can't breathe, can't sleep,e tc. My OB told me to go to my primary care and that they should knwo the medications I shouldn't be allowed to take antibiotic wise, because that might be what I need.  I know I wouldn't be able to get through this without absolutely nothing.  Eespecially because the common colds for people knock me on my ass.

    Sudafed is okay but it's the kind you have to ask the pharmacist for, not the kind that's out in the OTC medicine aisles.

    Drink fresh lemon juice (it really works!) and drink tons of water. Being sick is the worst. Sorry =(.

    A nettie pot can be helpfull, You are also able to take sudafed

    I had a really bad cold earlier this month.  The little booklet that my OB gave me said dextromethorphan was ok, as well as some different antihistamines.  I found a Vicks syrup that contained just the allowed ingredients, though it took me a long time in the cold aisle reading labels to find it.  I only ended up taking it twice while I was sick, as it kept me awake even though it was not a nondrowsy formula.  Also cough drops are ok, which was a lifesaver in the beginning of my cold as my throat was sooooo sore.
