Talking to herself

When DD is by herself, she talks up a storm.  When she wakes, she'll sit there for at least 10 minutes just cooing to herself.  Same as when I put her down for naps, she'll just chatter away.   But when I'm with her, she clams up.  Today, I put her in her bouncer and she cooed to the toys when I left the room, but when I came back she quieted down.  She'll talk to me, but not nearly as much as when she's by herself.  I guess it's a good thing that she can self-entertain, but I wish she'd have a conversation with me...

Anyone else notice this?

Sophie doesn't talk to herself, necessarily, but she'll talk to her mobiles (she has three, hanging above her changing table, her crib, and her swing). She talks to me, too, but definitely more to the mobiles!

  • We actually have the opposite- Josh gets really annoyed with us if he thinks we're not listening when he talks. He'll get progressively louder until either we respond, or he starts crying.
