  • Not here, but I can understand it. It sounds more like a precautionary thing for the doc. They don't want to have you calling them up because your just spotting from sex. I don't think its something that most people can't do, I just think its something that can cause worry.

DH and I had sex around 9 weeks and I wouldn't do it again because of the cramping and spotting. Then I learned we were doing it wrong because we tried one more time around 12 weeks and I had no problems afterwards. I believe it was because we were used to doing whatever we wanted. I was a little more cautious this second time and we were easy and gentle. It was still wonderful, but no bleeding or cramping.

  • My doc said that I may have some light spotting after but she didn't think it would be a problem.

That's an odd thing for a doctor to say I think- everyone knows that you may see some spotting here and there.

  • If there is unexplained bleeding your doctor will tell you to hold off for up to ten days if there is a concern about infection. But if you have been examined and your cervix is closed (around 7 weeks) then I don't understand such a big rule.
  • Yes, when i was pg. w/ DS i had spotting between weeks 4-5 so i was told no sex until after the first trimester.  i didn't argue.  :o)

  • No never been told that & we have lots of sex--LOL!  I never spotted early in my pregnancies except the first one that I lost.  I did spot at the end of my 2nd pregnancy but that's something totally different.

  • My doc didn't mention anything like that either.  We've had sex several times since getting the BFP.
  • we had sex on wed- and i just spotted red today. so now I am nervous. I have not see the dr. yet.... I do have a call in to have someone call me back today... should be interesting to see what they say?
  • Nope, haven't ever heard that from my Dr. Besides, if she had said that I think he would have cried a little on the inside. We too do the deed alot and have never experienced any  kind of spotting but I understand that its normal after sex. We did sorta tone down our bed side manner though just much to my chagrin.
  • Yes...I actually have been told to refrain...the only reason being though is because the placenta has seperated slightly from the uterus which has caused a severe amount of bleeding and could potentially lead to worse things...basically it has caused me to be on bed rest...so DH and I are having a celibate marriage...lol.

  • My midwife said to continue to have sex and that I could expect some light spotting afterwards.

  • I haven't experienced any spotting after sex yet, which is good because DH and I have been doing it a lot. As long as the spotting isn't red or accompanied with cramping you should be fine.

  • For real??? Normal stress does NOT cause a m/c or pregnancy complications. That's simply ridiculous.
