There is a summer movie deal at Harkins where you pay 7$ and get 10 movies throughout the summer. I thought it might be a fun thing to do with the boys but I'm thinking they are a bit young. We don't watch a lot of TV in our house so I don't know how long of an attention span they would have. It is cheap enough that I kind of figure that we can go and see if it works and leave if it doesn't or even just go for part of it. But I'm curious if other people's kids can sit through a movie.

Re: At what age do kids sit through a movie?
You can borrow a dvd from us and see if they sit through it. That way you can guage. Although, the excitement of being in the movie theater may make that moot. Let me know!!
I think it truly depends on the kid. We took DS to see Cars 2 last summer at 3.5 and he only lasted through maybe half. He was pretty much over it by about 1/4 in and was squirming for awhile before we finally had to leave. By the time we got there a little early to get him used to the theater, got a seat, sat through the ads and previews, he was already distracted. And I was sure it would go well because he adored Cars and was really excited about the sequel. Not so much. We haven't tried again.
However, I think DD, barely 2, could probably sit through anything. She has already been to two more educational-type movies at the science museum (both 45 min.) and did great. I suspect if it is something she is really excited about, she would be quite capable.
I'm still not sure DS would last an entire movie. Even at home, he prefers to be doing something else while watching TV/movies and generally can't sit through an entire feature uninterrupted. However, I have friends with kids his age who have been regularly taking them to every movie out for probably 2 years now. I can't fathom that with DS!
It probably wouldn't hurt to try. Just be prepared to walk out if it doesn't go well!
We do have a DVD
I can't say we've ever sat and tried to watch the whole thing. I was thinking the movie theater and possibly some popcorn might make it last. If you're not busy tomorrow morning come with us! We will likely be leaving about 20 minutes into it but it could be fun.
ETA: MIL is going to watch Micah so I'm trying to think of something to do with the boys that I couldn't do with Micah along. Any other ideas?
Alas, I work this morning at 9am. Or else I totally would! Colin is taking his exam Saturday and Alec and I are going to the Children's Museum. Join us if you like
As for what to do without Micah.... no idea. I'm totally at a loss.
This is weird. Why am I always replying to your posts when I can just call you???
my read shelf:
It wasnt until 4 years of age until our DS would sit through a movie like a good boy in a theater.
