Does anyone still follow the rule of introducing one food item at a time? At our last pedi appt, we were told that LO could eat what we eat. However, DH is still on the kick of introducing 1 item at a time.
Plus, I am trying to get DH not to puree DS's food as much. DS will eat some of our food with no problems...like green beans, steamed carrots, chicken, peaches, etc. However, DH feels like he still needs to puree DS's food. I can't get him to not worry about DS choking.
Re: Food ?
Honestly we never followed that rule. We have very minimal history of food allergies (I developed my one allergy late in life- around age 30 and it's minor), so we weren't very worried.
Also, my LO never let us feed her so we had no choice but to move to finger foods in an effort to just feed her at all. I've heard that most LOs do that at some point (start rejecting purees and/or being fed) so the problem may solve itself.
We phased that out around the time DS started eating table food (7-8 months). It's much harder to do when you're dealing with foods that have more than one ingredient so we just didn't bother.
DS still does eat some purees. Fruits mixed with cereal for breakfast, and occasionally a veggie puree with dinner, though we usually give him real veggies.
Choking is a concern, but just start with small pieces and watch them.
