My twins are 3 weeks old... birth story finally!

I haven't had a chance to get on here since the babies have been born, but they were born on May 9th!

When I went in for my OB appt on May 9th, I was prepared to ask for testing for Cholestasis since I was having symptoms.  I didn't even have to--my BP was up again, so my OB asked if I was willing to go ahead and be induced.  I was going to be induced the following Monday anyway, and I was 37 and a half weeks pregnant, which is further than they really like for twins to go.  I said okay, and off we went to the hospital.

When I got there, I was already 4 cm. and 90% effaced, so they just broke my water and gave me a small dose of pitocin.  The contractions got pretty intense, but manageable.  However, Mason was on my sciatic nerve again, and every time I would contract, it would press on the nerve and give me excruciating pain!  I didnt really want to get an epidural, but I ended up doing it anyway.  I loved it!  I could still move and feel my legs, walk, feel contractions, etc., but the nerve pain was gone.  It was enough to take the edge off, but I still felt like I was able to be in control.

The contraction monitor wasn't registering my contractions, so the nurse kept acting like I was crazy.  I was pretty pleased when they checked me and I had gone from 4 to 8 in an hour or two... obviously I was having the contractions that I said I was!  When they finally switched to the external monitor, my contractions were VERY evident.

I went from 8 cm to 10 cm in about 20 minutes, and they took me to the ER to deliver.  28 minutes later, both babies were here!  Mason took a few contractions to push out, and he was born at 8:34pm weighing 6 lb. 11 oz.  Madelyn was out in two pushes, and she was born at 8:39pm weighing 5 lb. 4 oz.  Both were checked out by the NICU team in the OR, and both came right back to the labor room with me :o).  They stayed with me the whole time, and we all came home 36 hours later!

Anyway, we're all doing well at home.  It's been a bit of a challenge figuring out how to breastfeed the two of them... I feel like I'm attached to either a baby or a pump at all times!  But my supply is great, so I can't really complain about it.  I'm still waiting for the octopus arms that I requested at the hospital to be installed, haha!

I'm sure I won't have a chance to read through all of the posts for quite awhile, but congrats to everyone who has had their babies and good luck to those who are still waiting!

Hopefully these pictures will post..
