I had a C Section delivery 3 weeks ago and LO has been congested since she arrived. The Dr. assured me that this was normal due to the CS delivery, but I think it's getting worse and she's coughed a few times yesterday/today. Is this normal, or should I call the ped? She does not have a fever.
It can be normal. DD was fairly congested for a while. Then it turned out she had reflux and stridor. Nothing major at all, but I felt better knowing it was nothing major and she felt better with some zantac. It never hurts to get a second opinion.
This is very common. When a baby is delivered vaginally, the fluid is pushed out of their lungs when they come through the vaginal canal. Because this doesn't occur during a c-section, some of that fluid can linger.
