Solids and daycare

When will you have daycare start solids?  With DS I was a SAHM for the first year and a half so didn't have to do this.  I was just curious if you would have them start once you have them on something for a few days to rule out any allergies?  How often will you have them start the new foods?  Thanks!

Re: Solids and daycare

  • Our daycare requests that we establish anything new at home for four days before bringing it to daycare.

That's a good idea.  We start with the first solid "meal" at dinner time so we're with them when they have new things.  It's fun to see them try new stuff, too :)

  • I like that idea!  I will do the same probably.

I will start out at dinner time and just do that for a few weeks or longer, who knows.  When he's ready for a second meal I will start sending it to daycare.  I know it's extra work for her so I'm not going to rush it.

  • The daycare we checked out starts them on solids at 1 year. There is a whole menu for breakfast, lunch and two snacks. I didn;t think they would start so early, but then again I am a FTM so I dunno what I am doing when it comes to feeding Matthew anything else but formula.
