Stickshifts and Safety Belts

Is it just me, or does your LO put up a major pushing war when you wear a seat belt these days? It seems to come and go with mine, but if I am wearing under-belly pants (i.e. have rolled my stretchy top pants down...haha) and put on a seat belt, it is incredibly uncomfortable. It doesn't seem to matter that the seat belt is fairly loose and the pants weren't uncomfortable when I was just sitting in a regular chair. I can't figure it out, but at this point it is definitely going to restrict the amount of time I spend in a car!

Re: Stickshifts and Safety Belts

  • My seatbelt is uncomfortable but I drive a 5-speed manual and if I am driving somewhere that takes frequent shifts it usually results and excessive baby kicking. My commute to/from work is about 20 mins city driving the whole way meaning I probably shift gears 50+ times one way. I feel like my belly went through blender by time I get to work or get home.

Nah, seat belts don't bother my bump - they bother my throat. I'm about 5'3" and have a pretty short torso, so the shoulder belt is always choking me. I think I need one of those postion adjuster things that are made for kids Huh?

  • Krissy, I am a short girl too, and I have that same problem in most vehicles! You seriously might look into an adjustor. My Honda Accord has a place to adjust the belt where it hooks into the car at the top, and it has made a world of difference. (It also doesn't hurt that I can raise my seat up, too.) It's a little thing really, but it makes long car rides much more bearable!
