Hi ladies, I am in need of info/links, explaining the (negative) effects of birth control pills, or any hormonal b.c. for that matter.
I have been on and off NuvaRing for the past few years, and back in January, my doc switched it up and gave me Yaz, due to us thinking the generic would be cheaper than the Nuva. It wasn't any cheaper...and my body got really out of whack. My face got SO dry, that my skin would just flake off. I was spotting when I shouldn't have been, my mood was bad, all the time...the list goes on.
I stopped taking it, earlier this month, and I am comletely back to normal now. I do not plan on getting back on b.c., and my husband is aware of this, due to me convincing him it is not good for my body, or any womans body- because it's pumping you full of junk.
So- in my defense, I need some sort of proof that it isn't natural, and does have a negative effect.
(FWIW, my husband and I are not trying to avoid pregnancy; I am not looking for another form, I just want to prove to my husband that I'm not crazy!)
TIA
Re: Don't know where to post this...B.C. question.
I bet if you just google 'negative side effects of birth control' or something along those lines, you will get lots of info.
GL in your search! FWIW...I don't use any form of BC. I just pay attention to my cycle & don't have sex during time of ovulation since I'm not trying to get pregnant.
I was on Ortho Tricyclen in my teen years. It caused me to gain weight, threw off my cycle instead of regulating it, and sent me into a HORRIBLE depression. My body does not take well to those hormones. I did some research and found out that that's actually a pretty common response. I had no idea beforehand.
Since then, I'd pretty much sworn off hormonal birth control. We were keeping track of my cycles and avoiding during the fertile week and it worked for almost 3 years. The only reason I'm pregnant now is because Easter involved a lot of alcohol and not a lot of foresight
Wouldn't change it for the world though!
Anyway, FWIW, I'm with ya on the no hormonal BC train. That stuff's terrible.
Before I was married I was on birth control for ovarian cysts. I was on the patch, then yaz, then ortho tricyclen lo. All of them had horrible side effects for me and I think contributed to my two miscarriages and body problems for a couple years after I was off them. Yaz was the owrst for me. I was having severe pmdd and headaches. I read info packet on it and found it could cause brain hemmorages and got off it immediately.
My husband and I wanted children right away so I didn't need birth control once we were married. With our christian views on having children, all of my problems with birth control, and a possible future of ovarian cysts causing problems we only use condoms and are happy to have children whenever it happens. (It took us a while to get pregnant each time.)
You can find the side effects online.
Generic Yaz was HORRIBLE!!!!! That being said, I loved the name brand, and had absolutely no negative side-effects from it.
Honestly, if you Google the prescription info for whichever BCs you want to know about, the lists of possible side effects will be in there.
