Originally we liked Jane Christine for #2 (if it's a girl). However, our 3 year old DD has told people since November that the baby's name was going to be Rueben. So, we've toyed with the idea of Ruby. We love the name, love that Anna (DD#1) would have had a part in naming it....thoughts?

Well, our 26 mo old DD thinks we should name DD #2 'Toot', LOL! As PP said, don't let this sway you... Ruby is 'cutesy', but sort of trendy right now IMO and not sure how well it will serve her into adulthood... Something about it irks me, but of course many love it, so don't listen to me! Jane is much better. Still NMS, but definitely cute and classic.
I much prefer Jane over Ruby, especially if DD1 is Anna, I'd rather keep the style similar.
DS1 absolutely wants to name a little brother or sister Sid. Sure, it's cute, but I'm not using it.
If you must, buy her a baby doll to take care of once her little sister comes home and she can name the doll Ruby/Reuben.
I agree with the others that while the sentiment is sweet, I wouldn't necessarily choose a name just because your DD suggested it. If you absolutely love it above all, certainly, but otherwise, no. Our DD would have been named "Bus Beep Beep" had we listened to DS.
That being said, I much prefer Jane over Ruby. I'm in the minority here, but I dislike Ruby.

I really love Ruby Christine!
ETA: To everyone saying Ruby isn't very adult-sounding, it's the #2 girl name in Australia and high up on several other countries' lists. It'll most certainly be an adult name. And I actually associate it more with older women, although I love it on a little girl!

When I saw Anna and Ruby together it reminded of this:

My family would travel here for vacations. If you don't live anywhere near Georgia, then it won't be an issue. I do like the flow of Ruby Jane.

I agree!
But the difference is, Ruby is a genuine name. "Bus Beep Beep" is not (though that would make me laugh if DS suggested it)
Ruby is one of those old lady names, but I've grown to like it. Jane on the other hand is so dull to me. I like both Ruby Christine and Ruby Jane.
