HELP...teething, rash, something else?

My DD has some random symptoms going on right now and I'm not sure what to do anymore. We saw the Dr. about 10 days ago and she told us she's cutting her molars (we thought she ahd an ear infection because she was pulling on her ears, but Dr. said it's her molars).  Anyway, she had a fever over the weekend (highest was 103). That broke Monday.  She ate great yesterday (first time in about a week), so we thought she was back to normal. Then last night she got some red dots on her legs and arms.  This morning she had more dots on her legs and arms.  Some are small, and a couple are the size of quarters. They aren't bumpy and don't seem to be bothering her. Now, she's not eating again and is pulling on her ears again.  She's drinking her milk, but not eating food.  She has not had a fever since Monday morning.  Could all of this be related the molars?  Could the rash be from her fever?  I'm so confused and feel awful for my baby. We have her 1 year apt. on Monday, but I'm not sure what to do for now.  Thank you!!

Re: HELP...teething, rash, something else?

  • Em's been all over the place for almost a week now - hardly eating or drinking, not playing, always sleepy. And she had one instance each of fever, vomiting, and diahhrea, then one day with a random rash all around her midsection. Monday morning she seemed so off that I called a nurse line to see if they had any suggestions. I didn't know if all this was from molars or weaning or what and I didn't know what to do about making it.any better. They said it sounded like she had a little virus and to watch for worsening symptoms but otherwise just try to get creative to get liquids in her and help her get lots of rest to fight off the bug. So that's what we did and she does seem to be doing a lot better, especially with eating, so I guess it was just a little funk. I felt a little silly not realizing she could be fighting anything since none of her symptoms seemed to last but know I know they don't all have to be there all the time. So hopefully that's all that's going on with your DD and she feels better soon. I know it's rough. If you notice anything getting worse though call your pedi. You.don't want to wait until it's too late over the weekend or something Smile

  • I'm sorry, I don't have any advice other than to call you pedi, just to make sure that there is nothing you can do between now and then.

  • Possibly roseola?  or hand foot mouth, but those don't usually get to be the size of quarters.  Usually a high fever followed by a rash is indicative of some virus.

Thank you, ladies!  I had looked up roseola as well.  I talked to the Dr. today and they said there's not much they can do for a rash unless it's infected or combined with a fever, which it's not either of.  However, tonight the rash was almost gone, and it looked more like hives to us.  We can't think of anything she's eaten or touched that's different lately, so who knows. She also ATE dinner tonight!!!  We were so excited!  Anyway, thanks again, I really appreciate your advice and support!!!
