I have wanted to do LO's party around lunch time, but he usually takes a nap around 1. To those that have already had parties what time did you go with. If you skipped a nap did your LO do ok or get cranky?
Ours is Saturday at noon, which is between naps. There's no way I would try to schedule a party when he would otherwise be napping. Can you do it at 11am?
Ours was at 2- A usually has her second nap at 4 so she was getting cranky at the end. But she toughed it out until after then crashed! Can you make yours in between naps?
We had our party at 1. At the time she was typically sleeping from 10a-noon and then again around 2. She woke a little early and then completely missed her 2nd nap and did GREAT. She took a short nap in the late afternoon once everyone had left and was back to her normal schedule by bedtime.
Ours is at 4:00 this weekend, after E's long nap. She's such a schedule girl that if we did it during her nap I'm not sure how things would go. However, I've also noticed with lots of people around, and activities, DD does better waiting to take her nap since she's occupied with people and toys.
We decided to do 4pm and serve dinner because she normally naps from 1-3ish. Ours is also outside and we don't have a pool, so it can be pretty hot in our backyard at lunch time but usually cools off by dinner because of shade.
We did a late afternoon party this time (because my older son plays tball Saturdays mid-morning). but, for my older son's 1st bday part, we did it around 11am (He was taking 2 naps at that time, I kept him up a bit later for his morning nap, then he was able to make it until almost 2 at the party and went down for a nap right after smashing his cake) I had appetizers out at 11 when people got there, then put lunch out around 11:30.
We're having ours at 2pm. Lately, he's been going down for a nap around 11:30-12 so I thought 2pm would work out. He often doesn't take an afternoon nap and probably won't on party day because there will be so much going on.
I would definitely schedule the party around your LO's naps if you can.

Sounds like 11 or 3 would be the best option. If I have it at 3 would you guys do presents and other activities before food or just put the food out and let people eat?
