What new foods are you introducing these days, now that our babies are getting older and ready for some new things? I'm looking for ideas. In the past month or so, we've introduced yogurt, cottage cheese, blueberries, broccoli, egg yolk, tofu, multigrain cereal, toast, and lentils. And I got some of those baby cheeto-type things. I've been thinking of doing quinoa and maybe some other legumes, but I'm running out of ideas for new things to try. I've been working on chunkier textures. I've also been trying more finger foods, although she mostly makes a mess of it.
We're keeping her on a vegetarian diet so far, so we haven't done meat.
Re: What new foods are you introducing these days?
We did yogurt last night & will be doing blueberries this week too.
We started peaches & puffs last week. Last night I gave her some puffs & whole peas to eat while Daddy & I had dinner. It was mostly a mess but she had fun.
Haven't tried regular cheese! How do you serve it (other than quesadilla)-- shredded, tiny pieces, melted? We have cheddar at home right now-- would it be better to start with something more mild, like jack or something?
Quesadilla sounds yummy--- I could go for one right now! Do you cut up it up really small or let her try to bite pieces off herself? My girl is still toothless, so biting is tough for her still, although she can do toast OK.
I haven't really tried spices, except a little cinnamon in her apple sauce. Do you just sprinkle stuff in whatever foods your giving him?
Mmmmm.....risotto. I make a mean risotto with herbs, parm, saffron, and lemon-- it's a lot of ingredients that she hasn't had yet, but maybe I'll give it a try.
Don't feel like a bad mom! Max is really only eating purees still. I am trying textures and he is not a fan yet. I wish he could have cheese but with his milk protein allergy I'm limited to what he can have.
I need some new ideas myself, he is starting to get bored. He loves cinnamon though!
It all depends on the spice/herb. Sometimes I just sprinkle cinnamon on top while other times I cook the quinoa with some cumin.
I have this babyfood cookbook from the library right now and am loving it. It really gave me a lot of ideas(which is where I got the risotto from).
Don't feel dumb! It's confusing, since they can't have cow's milk until age 1. If you haven't seen this website, you should check it out-- it's particularly good for making your own food, but worth looking over even if you haven't, since it goes over what foods are best introduced at which ages (sorry, my browser doesn't do clicky).

Hey, I actually got that book for xmas, but I haven't looked at it for a while (since the basic purees that I started with were so easy that I didn't really need the book for them). I'll have to look back at it!
Here are some of the cooler things my LO loves..you probably have done many of them.
Smoked salmon
Turnips, broccoli, green beans
Tomatoes! One of her fave
Goat and sheep milk cheese
Whole grain bananna pancakes
Curried cauliflower
And ditto on the spices!
