How long until stomach flattens?

I am almost two weeks post partum. I had a c section. So far I've lost over thirty of my 55 lbs gained. But my stomach is very saggy and spongy. Just wondering how long it takes for it to start tightening again?

  • It took quite a while... maybe 6 months and lots of effort. I lost all the baby weight plus 10 lbs and it was still soft/squishy for a while.

  • It took about 6 weeks for mine to flatten and that was without ab exercise. It doesn't look pp but it is pretty close.
  • I had a very tight, flat tummy pre-baby. Now it is soft and spongy.

  • My tummy never went back to be the same as is was pre baby #1.....a lot depends on your genetics, age, amount of weight gained, how much your muscles separated during your pregnancy, etc.  Just get a tankini and call it a day!
  • I'm 12 wks pp and lost all of the baby weight but still have the belly.  I went up a size in clothes.

  • It's different for everyone. My belly never fully went back after DS1. I think it took almost a year to be firm but it was never flat again. After DS2 it never got as firm again. I'm a little scared to see what I'll be left with this time.

  • I'm 2 months out, and I think my uterus is mostly back to its normal size.  It would help if I could force my lazy butt to do my pilates.
