2 whole cm!

So I had my first cervical check yesterday and the doc told me I'm 2cm dilated and that the cervix is soft, baby's in great position!  So I know this doesn't really mean much as far as when I'll actually go into labor....but I'm just excited to have any sign at all that I'm getting closer to having this baby!  Plus it means that this weekend I wasn't crazy when I was having cramping and thought they might possibly be contractions.  FTM here and I'm worried I won't know exactly what a contraction feels like (I know that's crazy!).  I'm much more likely to try and talk myself out of thinking I'm having contractions than into thinking I'm in labor!

DH and I are just so ready to have our little girl, these next few weeks are going to seem like an eternity.  But I have to say, hearing the doc say "2 cm" yesterday did put a smile on my face, even if it doesn't really mean much!

  • It's not crazy that you are worried you won't know when you start having contractions. I had no idea that labor was starting my first time around until hours later. My first "contractions" were mostly upset stomach mixed with weird crampy feelings. I just thought it would be really obvious, but it wasn't!

  • Thanks for making me not feel crazy!  When I was having cramping DH asked me if it could be labor....I just looked at him and said "How the heck am I supposed to know!"
  • I am right there with you! 2 cm, 50% effaced. My doc thinks I won't make it to 40 wks.

Let's keep on watching for labor signs!
