Yep, She's Getting Fat... PIP

My family makes stupid comments.  The latest is saying that I'm getting fat.  I think I look good, but it still bothers me when they say this.  I know they're just lacking in vocabulary and don't mean it as an insult, but it still makes me self-conscious.

So here's my pic from yesterday so you can see for yourself. Stick out tongue

  • Umm fat no? Just give it a few months.
  • I think yo look great.  I am starting to poke out, and have been told by a few family members that I look pregnant.  Only one idiot told me I look "fatter" (I am already thicker to begin with) I want to cut his lips off.
  • My brother calls me "fatty" all of the time. I know he is kidding of course, my brother and I just have that kind of relationship.

  • At least every time you see your brother, he doesn't sit there and say that he is going to punch you in the stomach. He not only says it, but he fake does it. I guess thats his perogative though, he is the big bro and has always teased me.
  • Jennywren82 I love your fat cat!! I have one of those too! His name is Fat Cat

Thanks!  Maybe they're afraid to use the word "pregnant" because it implies that I've had sex.  *GASP*

  • Aww, you look adorable! Screw 'em.

Apparently I've not gained enough weight according to one of DH's aunts, I guess I'm supposed to gain 100 lbs like she did which is why when she wears stretch pants her ass looks like 2 pigs are fighting in there.

  • Tell them to shove it. Seriously, who says that to a pregnant woman. Especially one who looks as fabulous as you do.

  • You look great and pregnant.

    ?

Some family members are just dumb. I have an uncle who when I walked in told me I looked great, but not pregnant. And I'm thinking oh so I just look fat (I've gained about 10 lbs already). I decide to drop it and ignore it. Then after dinner, he starts on it again this time saying oh I see it now (I had changed my shirt b/c I was hot). My FIL says to him Are you still on this? And my uncles like, did I say something wrong. I say yes, if i don't look pregnant, i look fat. I'm like if you can't tell a pregnant woman she looks good then don't talk about it. (In my head I'm thinking, sadly between this and the fact that you still pee on the toilet seat, I just figured out why you're 52 and single). Ok end of vent. Sorry.

  • My family makes some comments like this too but that is mainly because I have joked about myself that way...we are always joking with each other so it is just sort of our way.

Latley my new thing has been that I say I am finally past just looking fat and now I actually look pregnant Smile

  • Just tell them that you won't be this way forever, but they'll still be a$$holes. Big Smile
  • Personally, I think you look gorgeous --- and you have a small bump.

People are just weird. ..my MIL called yesterday to tell me she's happy I'm getting "big and fat" b/c that's good for the baby!

  • Thanks for all the replies.  It's been tough for me this holiday and tomorrow I see more family so I'm already cringing thinking of what they're going to say.

I decided to wear a dress tomorrow so they can't lift it up.  (Yes, I have family members that think it's OK to pull my shirt up so they can see my belly!)

I think that the next time someone pulls your shirt up, you should do the same to them. I cannot understand why people think it's ok to assault a pregnant woman.

I know!  It's like my body is no longer *mine* since I'm PG and people feel they can do whatever they want.

Luckily so far it's been just family like my Grandma.  I can't imagine strangers touching me.  I think I need the "don't touch" shirt!
