36 weeks, second child, some pains....

okay, i am 36,2 today. I went to the doc yesterday and i was 2cm dilated and "thinned" (she didnt tell me how much). I know this means nothing... but last 2days i have been just having alot of pains/cramping. Sort of feels like BH but with more pain... not crippling pain... but i just stop a second and kind of whine, then let it pass. I think i lost a little tiny bit of MP this morning too.... although that could have been the result of my cervix check yesterday?

anyways... are others in my position having some pains too? is it "normal"? or should i be more concerned that i may go earlier than i thought i would? or will i be having pains for the next 4 + weeks?? (ahhhhhh)

I just don't remember any pain this far ahead with my daughter... i had "pro dromal" labor with her but not until a little after my due date and ended up being admitted and "induced along" at 9 days overdue.

sorry to babble - any thoughts?

Re: 36 weeks, second child, some pains....

  • I had the same problem a few nights ago. I actually was able to time them 6-8 minutes apart. They eventually settled down if I changed positions and drank some water. My OB said they are completely normal. I never had "real" contractions because my water broke and I had no contractions until they hooked me up to pitocin. She said that if the pain got worse or if the contractions (no mater how painful) came every 5 minutes, lasted atleast a minute each and I was having them for an hour or more I needed to go to L&D.

Now I am just dealing with cramping like I would get right before I started my period. Annoying as heck!

  • I am dealing with the exact SAME thing.. it is getting annoying because I am so uncomfortable.. I am happy I made it to 37 weeks. Not sure how I can do 3 more weeks like this.

  • I've been having pains like that since 36 weeks and here I am 3 days before my due date and still no "real" labor. I don't know if this is true of you but mine always left my inner thighs really sore. My doctor did comment that she thought that they were related to the fact that I was already 1cm dilated at 36 weeks.

  • I tend to have 2-3 wks of symptoms before baby comes. With DS started at 37 wks and I had him at 39w2d...with DD I had her at 38w4d and exactly 2 wks before I was in the hospital and thought I was in labor. 3-4 hours of contrax, pain, worsening etc.

I had them same last week...3 hours of 5 mins apart. If I was a FTM I wouldv've called after 1 hour. I told my OB yesterday and she said I obviously feel more contrax than some women and so when I need to change when I call. So if I have wrosening contrax 5 mins or less apart for a few hours then Ill call. But 1 hour wont work for me. I also saw some of my MP yesterday and I dont think Ill go into labor for at least a week.

Sometimes your body is more senstive the 2nd or 3rd time around.
