Those with MIL issues

I read so many stories all over this site where women piss and moan about some really insignificant thing their MIL did. They blow it way out of proportion and I laugh. I've wondered to myself if your mom did half of the things your MIL does that you complain about would you complain? For instance, I read a story where some woman's MIL went through some papers on her bar. This girl went totally psycho. I've read stories of her complaining about her MIL before for really stupid things. So would she also complain that her mom did it? Would she complain in the extreme style that she complained about her husband's mom? I highly, HIGHLY doubt it. I'll say now that most of the issues with MILs are probably more DIL issues than anything.

If my mom or my MIL went through a stack of papers at my house that contained financial information, I would be equally livid with both of them. I don't want either of them knowing how much we make, how much our mortgage is, or how much we have in savings.

While some MIL issues are petty, that one was not.

If I had an uncomfortable relationship with my mom and she went through my stuff without my permission, yeah... I'd complain. Luckily my mom respects my privacy though, if not, we'd have an issue.

Really? Why does it matter to you? Yes, some MIL issues are petty but going through ones mail is NOT petty. I would be just as angry if my mom went through my mail as if my MIL did. My DH and my personal business (finances or whatever else) are for us. IDGAF how the person is related to me-- stay the eff out of my personal's unless I invite you to be apart of it.

Doubt it. If my own mother went through my mail I would be livid too. Mail can contain personal things that are only intended for the person it's addressed to. Would you go through your MIL or your own mother's mail? No one with respect for another would do something like that. Sure, I have a mail pile in my house and my mom has never gone through it, even if she has free range of my house. Yeah, I might come home to a clean house or rearranged furniture (my mom likes to move furniture around, it's kinda her thing), but she would never do something like open my mail.

The person that you are refering to OP was pissed because her MIL went through her mail. That is a FEDERAL OFFENSE if you open and read someone else's mail without their permission. She had no right. Would you like it if your MIL, SIL, neighbor, friend, etc. went through your mail without your permission. Yes, there are ladies on here that do vent about their MIL's (myself included) but we do it because we can all relate in one way or another. Go back into your hole now and stop trying to cause drama. We have children to raise here.

As an equal opportunity grandma hater, yes I have complained about my mother, she's just as horrible as my MIL. My mother has gone through my own personal papers when I was pg with DS and she stormed out of my house after she found our phone list for his birth and all we did was copy it out of our address book. Well my maiden starts with a z, figure out what pissed her off. If she didn't go through my desk (which is not on the main floor), she wouldn't have gotten pissy. She storms out a lot, she doesn't communicate with anyone. My MIL issues are not petty, there are safety issues. She can lay your child on the counter between the stove and sink full of water so she could cook on the stove. He was 6 weeks old at the time. I have confronted both ny mother and MIL, I have told them I don't trust them, does that make me a b!tch, sure , but I'm honest and don't hide behind a computer screen. Plus and also I call a troll as someone who lurks but doesn't post except for ridiculous posts.

And to defend another MIL rant, the one complaining that MIL did not cook, clean, etc, she was coming to help with the baby, and did nothing to help. Cooking, cleaning, changing diapers would be helping.
