question about dreambaby extension gate

I am looking for a gate (preferably an extra tall one) to fit an 83" opening. The dreambaby gate looks nice, but I"m wondering if the extensions are adjustable. Meaning, if I add a 39" extension to a 28" gate, will I get up to 39 additional inches, or exactly 39"?

    They aren't adjustable...each extension is a solid metal piece. You have to try & combine their options to fit as closely as possible to the opening you're trying to fill. The only "adjustable" part would be that you could screw/unscrew the part right by the wall if that makes sense (maybe an inch).

    I don't remember the lengths but we have an extension with 3-4 bars on one side of the gate & a small one with only 2 bars on the other side. The extensions fit flush against each other or the gate, there's no option to leave a gap to expand the length or compress them in any way.
