4 month stats - we definitely have a chunky one :)

How did your 4month wellness check go?

DD did really well with the shots and doc said she is a perfect and healthy little girl :)

Her stats are:

Weight 17.6 lbs :o (95th percentile)

Height 25.5" (80th percentile)

Head 16.5" (75th percentile) still a flat head but no concern at all :)

I got a bit worried with her weight being in a significantly higher percentile than her height, but the doc said that is perfectly fine and that she will work it all up anyway when she starts crawling and being more active.

So she is just a healthy little chunky monkey :)

How is your baby doing?

Sounds right along with my boy - 18 pounds and 25 inches.  Maybe because he's a boy his 25 inches was a much lower percentage (maybe 35% I think).

Head: she didn't give us inches but said 88%

Moral of the story: BEAST! I didn't get a chance to slowly build my upper body strength! Carrying him around all day is a major workout!

He didn't have any type of reaction to the shots this time, I nursed immediately after and he was happy as can be as we left.

So cute. I'm looking forward to my LO's appointment, but it is not until 2 weeks from now. I guess that is one of the problems (though not really a problem) with an overdue baby going from Jan 28 to February 7th.

  • Aw, we all have little chunks on our hands. Who needs a gym with those little, as I call them wallnuts (too big for a peanut) HAHA

Just carrying DD up and down stairs is plenty of workout for me :)

    I love tubby babies :)

BTW I totally LOLd at this one HAHA

  • Oh man DS is a long bean pole... 13 lbs 10 oz and 26.25"... I forget what his head size was but it was right around 50%... I apparently need to start chunking him up.

Why do you have to supplement?  My daughter was 13 3/4 at 4 months 1 week and that was fine.  14.5 sounds like a perfectly healthy weight, unless he was super heavy at birth.

Dr. wanted us to supplement because he only gained just under 1/2 pound since his 3 month check up. She charted his height against his weight and decided he was a little thin.  He went from the 60 something percentile to the 35th in a month.

ETA: After my period came back, my supply tanked too.  I tried pumping to make more, but it just got painful.

Well if your supply tanked, then I can understand, but I guess I'm of the opinion that weight gain will fluctuate, even in infants, so a 1/2 pound in a month at this age may just be what he does and next month he'll be back up to par.

However I am also the mom who can't even tell you how many ounces my formula fed daughter eats because I don't think it's important to know exactly how many ounces are consumed.  I make 28 a day and if she eats it all and wants more, fine, but most days she eats less and that's fine too.

  • DD weighed 14.9 lbs and was 24.5 in at her 4m appointment.  Doctor was happy with everything and DD did awesome with her shots.

  • I have my appt. two weeks early, so at 3.5 months, DD was:

    12lb10oz - 30%

    ~24 in.? - She was 60% I remember.

And head circ. was at 50%.

My LO has been long and skinny since, birth, so I'm not worried, especially since my pediatrician is not either.

This LO takes after me. I was a super tiny baby. As much as I love that she's so cute and tiny(also saves money because she doesn't change sizes very often), I kind of hope my next baby is a chunker like my H was.

According to my doctor, we have a long, lean stringbean (and according to her, that's totally okay!):

    Weight: 14.66 lbs

    Height: 25.5"

    Head: 44 cm , or 17.3 inches.

Yes, he has a huge head!

  • We had our appointment on Friday.  DD did great with her shots.  She actually cried more the oral medicine than the actual shots.  She slept for 15 minutes on the way home and just woke up smiling like nothing happened!

Weight - 13.3#, I guessed her weight perfectly, she improved from the 28% to the 40% so our doctor was happy.  Height - 25.5 in, and her head is still small at 15.5.

We go back to the Cardiologist to make sure the VSD is closed next month, really looking forward to it being our last visit (especially after getting all the bills!).

My ds is tall, lean, and has a peanut head lol. 25" long (90th percentile), 14.6 lbs (50th percentile) and I believe 15" head (35th percentile). Dr wasn't concerned about him having a small head though because he's showing steady growth over the past 4 months.

  • DD was 13lb. 13 oz. (55th percentile), 24.25" (50th percentile), head was 16.5" (75th percentile).

Her smaller size is welcome since DS was such a chunker lugging him around sent me to the chiropractor! They definitely do thin out once they start moving. Once he could walk his weight stabilized and he just grew taller and taller. Looking at him now, you'd never know he was 95th percentile his whole babyhood.

  • I guess I really do have a peanut on my hands!

     At 4 months -

    Height - 25 inches (89%)

    Weight - 12lbs 6 ozs (35%)

    Head - 40%, don't remember the inches

She gained 5ozs between 3 and 4 months, but my doctor wasn't worried because she started out at only 29% for weight at her 1 month appointment.  She is a little thing though, but soooo snuggly.  I'll take it :)

Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • I have a tank, I swear he's been on a constant growth spurt since he was about 2 weeks old.

19.8lbs (95th %), 26.5 inches (85th %).  He only started off at 7 lb 14 oz and 21 inches so yikes... and we're still EBF... crazy! My back is absolutely killing me but I love my great big boy!

  • I can relate.  DD weighed 17.5 lbs and measured 26 inches at her 4 month check up on May 16th.  (mind you she turned 4 months on May 5th).  She's 95th percentile for her weight and height too.

  • At his 4 month appointment, my little guy was 12 lb, 9 oz and 25.5 inches long. But, he was only 6 lbs at birth, so we're pretty pleased with his growth. I love my tiny cuddly baby. Doc wasn't concerned at all, as he's eating plenty of milk. Apparently breastfed babies ted to be smaller as a trend, or so he said..

  • Wow! My DS is huge compared to so many if the babies! He was 16 lbs 4 oz (60%) and 27!!! Inches tall.  His head was 18.5 in which concerned the dr enough to ask me to measure dh's head when I got home.  Thankfully I knew that dh, dd, and DS all have big heads so I wasn't too concerned.
