Diaper Rash Help

Yesterday during a diaper change I noticed DS's butt was really red, didn't look rash-like, just really red.  The next diaper change it looked a little worse and it seemed to really bother him when I wiped the area after he pooped.  He usually only poops once, maybe twice a day but yesterday he pooped 5 times, and he's already gone twice today and his bottom is still red.  I've been putting aquafor on it with every change.  Would you consider this a rash? Do you think it's just irritated from so many poops, or could it be a reaction from something he ate?

Thanks!

Is he teething? My DD always poops more and gets a red booty when she's teething. Hope he feels better soon!

Very possible yes.  I don't see/feel anything coming in, but he's constantly chomping on his fingers and has been pulling at his ears a lot and has been a bit fussier.   Thanks for your reply!

  • Could definitely be teething causing tons of poops or could be from something he ate. Has he had anything strong like oranges, red sauces etc.?  The doctors always told me to just use a wet cloth with water and a little mild soap during diaper changes whenever there butt's got really sore.

  • DD had the same type thing. It looked so sore! I used Aquafor mixed with Mylanta. It was AMAZING! It went completely away in one day.
