Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

D&C Question (kinda TMI)

Hi ladies - I'm a little unsure what's going on with my body post D&C. I had the procedure last week and for the following 3 days there wasn't much blood (sorry if TMI) but now I'm full on bleeding with tons and tons of clots just about every time I got to the bathroom.

The clots are really dark obviously, but the blood that's not clotted is super red, not like a brown or anything. I have had cramping and stuff the past few days, very sharp a few days ago but now it's just dull pain. I talked to a nurse yesterday and she said not to worry about it - but I can't help but want to know what other people's experiences were.

Thanks!

Re: D&C Question (kinda TMI)

  • I have had fairly light bleeding since my d&e, mostly red or brown.  I did have some clots, but only the first few days.  I also didn't have any cramping.  The doctor said as long as I wasn't soaking through a pad an hour for two straight hours,  I was okay.  What you're describing almost sounds like AF, but I don't know if that's even possible this early.  I'd say make an appt if you're concerned.  I like to err on the side of caution.
  • I wouldn't worry.  Especially since you called the nurse already.  My bleeding has been all over the place.  I've had days where it was heavy, days where it's light, and then I repeat the process over again.  I hope it gets better soon.

mostly all of this - I had it pretty light, thought it lasted for almost two weeks... I had no cramping at all.  But always, if you're concerned, or the clotting/heavy bleeding doesn't stop, call the nurse/dr again - they're getting paid for it! GL, hope everything's ok...

  • I have just had a tiny bit of spotting...until today, when it was medium (day 6).  I think everyone is just different, and it can be different every time--just like pregnancy itself.  What you describe seems normal.  I was told that if it got really heavy, like fully saturated a large pad in an hour, that I should call.  I was also told that usually it would be gone in 2 weeks.
