Beach items you must have

We are headed to the beach in less than 2 weeks. As a FTM I need recommendations of things that really helped when you went to the beach. My twins are 13 months old (I need to update pic and ticker). I will take the obvious stuff like sunscreen, towels, sand bucket/shovels and a cooler with drinks/snacks. I want to get a tent or umbrella for shade. Can anyone recommend something that they have and like? Is their something that you guys use or used that really made thinks easier. We are planning on taking a wagon with the air tires to haul all this stuff out there.

  • hmm....i think you named most of it. some people like to take kiddie blow up pools to fill with water but that always seemed like overkill to me. it may work for you.

plenty of snacks is good, and baby powder to get sand off of their wet hands, maybe their own chairs. you may could try that once and if they dont care you can blow that theory.

as for a tent we've used a small one from one step ahead, and then i bought a little dome recently. oh id also take arm swimmies. just to get them used to it. GL an have fun its all trial and error really!

I second the baby powder - that stuff works like magic to get the sand off.  We also went through a lot of snacks.  DS wasn't really interested in any toys we brought, he was just excited about the whole experience.

This is the best ever beach blanket.  It's a good size, there are little pockets on the corners to fill with sand and keep it down, it packs into a really small little bag and sand won't stick to it.  Awesome!

We just rented an umbrella and chairs at the beach, but we flew to the beach and didn't want to pack that sort of thing.

    Have fun!

  • Thanks ladies! I will add the baby powder to my list.

I have never seen a beach blanket made of that material. That would be great to get sand off easily and spare the towels. I was looking at one of the dome tents from One Step ahead that packs up really small on Amazon too.
