Does anyone have any experience with these? I have been sick for the past 9 months with seemingly no explanation. Caught a horrible virus last fall and got better but not fully and have felt flu symptoms since last fall (body aches, sore throat, extreme fatigue). I'm getting sick all the time too and catching everything that's going around. An old coworker of mine suggested I look into chronic fatigue syndrome and there happens to be a top doctor who is leading research on it about 1 minute from where I live. I went in today to talk to him since I've been really frustrated and have no answers and he said I have a lot of swelling in my joints and tendons (I have already been tested for other conditions) and he said I met the criteria for fibromyalgia 100% (he thinks CFS and fibro are the same condition, I know some docs consider them different). He says a lot of people with it have really weak immune systems. Does anyone else have this? I'm happy to maybe have an answer but not sure what to expect with it. I just want to feel healthy again! My doc uses the guaifenesin protocol as treatment.

Re: Fibromyalgia/CFS?
I do not have it, but my mom does. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and CFS when I was in middle school. I don't know much about her case, but I can clearly remember her feeling run down and tired. I don't know that she was getting sick all of the time. At least now, as I am older and pay attention more, I don't see that happening. I know that since she was diagnosed and started treatment, she has been doing much better (it's been 16 years since she was diagnosed). I wish I had a bit more insight, but I do know it gets better, even if it never goes away.
Good luck!
I believe both conditions are a part of a larger group of disorders of the auto-immune system. Fibro is one condition that can vary drastically from one person to the next. I would not be surprised if the recurring illness is part of it. Your body is trying to fight the joint inflamation and pair that with being run down, your immune system suffers and lets down its guard.
I do know that it gets better with treatment, so hopefully you will be back to your old self soon!
That sounds really similar to what happened to me when I got diagnosed (my doc also said CFS basically goes along with fibro). I got a bad infection, got better, but still felt like I had a virus, started getting every bug, felt sick all.the.time.
I have mine really well controlled now- I find that I really can't work 40 hour weeks (especially with LO now), but other lifestyle changes have helped me control the pain. One book that was a big help was The Arthritis Helpbook. My Rheumatologist recommended it and it had great advice.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or ever just want to talk/vent. Just let me know on this board, because I don't think I'd know I had a PM otherwise
ETA: How could I forget this--- I'm really sorry you're going through this. It sucks. I hope you get a great plan with your doctor and feel better soon.
